I was thinking about, as I putzed around preparing for some deck time at the end of my first day of vacation, how many times I’ve done this since June of 2011. Dunno why. It’s definitely not New York City and there’s no saxophone (there is, on occasion, air guitar 😉) but I guess it’s me (here it is - sorry, Steve) talking back to the night.

I never really cared for Michael McDonald much - he’s talented and all but I personally think he kinda fucked up the Doobie Brothers but that’s just me. He did team up with Kenny Loggins on the songwriting here, though, and I think it worked.

Carole King made a comeback of sorts in 1989 with some assistance here from Eric Clapton on lead guitar for the title track. This one got airplay at the second and third radio stations I worked at and I always believed it should have done better chart-wise.

I’d only been on deck for about 10 minutes, had some Bruce Hornsby and The Range goin’ when I happened to look to the right side of the yard and saw I had another visitor besides the squirrels and chipmunks scurrying around. Things like this can make this a pleasant place to be.
