@rauschma it's been a while since I wrote about it, but I've used buildless #preact for quite a bunch of cool things over the years (and still do) 😎
Feel free to have a look at https://ttntm.me/blog/buildless-preact-starter/ and https://ttntm.me/blog/building-a-data-viewer-with-preact/ if you're curious

I felt particularly nope'y today, but motivated enough added this page to my website:

🚨 New blog post alert 🚨
I just kicked of a series called "Albums of my life" where I present my most important albums of each year since I was born. I am starting with 1984 (but without 1984)
Thanks to @ttntm @jake4480 and @HailsandAles for inspiring me to do this! 🙏

Ctrl-ZINE is an independent smol web project, and its Issue 17 Vol. 2 happens to contain pieces by two of my favorite people on the fediverse. @rootcompute has a great piece here about his time on and thoughts about the fediverse, and @ttntm wrote a love letter to one of my own favorite games here, Diablo II.

I didn't squat anything heavy (i.e. > body weight x2) since early November, and I'm only doing squats once every 2 weeks on my current program. They were plateauing around the 105kg mark, back on 5/3/1, and Madcow 5x5, which I did for about 2 months earlier this year, had them in *every* workout - I believe I was overdoing them.
Anyway, pleasantly surprised with my squatting this morning: finished a set of 8x90 kg, followed by the "widowmaker" set of 20x62,5 kg. I could have pushed it for 9x90, probably, but I didn't want to get greedy and compromise on my form.
Hardly anything brag-worthy, by all means, but satisfied with my progress.

#starfield update. Haven't progressed much in the main story, but finished the Ryujin questline.
Spent most of my time - and credits 😅 - building a C class battleship from a salvaged spacer B class. My own variant of, but very much inspired by a build I saw on reddit.
It's still a WIP, mostly due to cash limitations and level locked ship parts - needs more engines, a different cockpit, a more powerful reactor, and better shields, eventually, BUT the WIP state is really impressive already.
It also tears through everything the game throws at me around level 30, which is how it earned it's name: Reaper.

Done tinkering with the Razorleaf in #starfield, got her close to maximum flex, considering what's available to me at level 17, inspired by Deimos' dropship model aesthetics. Armed to the teeth, up to 6 crew, and more than enough cargo space for a while.
Spacers, pirates, and whatever else stands in her way will remember that her silhouette means death, by missile salvo, or when getting boarded 😈

Space is the place for the human race...
Absolutely loving #starfield so far, the "elder scrolls on space" formula is addictive as hell.
TBH, I'm enjoying this so much, that it almost makes me forget how passionately I hated all their Fallout stuff after New Vegas 😅
Also: offline singleplayer, fuck yeah.

Really happy with my decision to get #annopaxromana. Already finished the "campaign" (i.e. tutorial), now in the game proper.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous, gameplay mechanics make sense, and controls feel natural (on #ps5 ). The duality of Romans and Celts is also really cool. -
Got myself that Anno #paxromana game. Escapism in a truly polished shell. I'll check back in with reality next year, I guess.

Doggcrapp.
Weirdest name of any training program, probably, but I'm sore again after every workout.
Also, leaving the barbell comfort zone, and using machines more, makes pushing the rest-pause sets to failure a little more varied.
Curious what I'll think about it in 3 months or so, and even more curious about how my body will process this program.

Just looked out into my garden, and a random #badger came by, and ran into a neighboring garden. Cool little fellow 🦝

Watched this #documentary last night. Highly recommended if you're interested in the history of the electric #guitar, and specifically what - and how - #prs did to get they are now.
Watching it will also make a dead old man very happy 😎

Remember I bought that #prs #guitar a couple of weeks ago?
I put on fresh strings the day I took it home, but all I had available then was a set of 9 gauge strings. I switched to a set DR Pure Blues (PHR-10, 10 to 46) this week, and the guitar is another level now. It felt great already, but it's even better now, with lower action and zero string buzz anywhere (never had a guitar that was set up so clean, and I owned many...).
The 9s played well, no doubt, but they were sounding a bit weak and sometimes shrill in high frequency ranges, muddy in low ones.
And I only did that, 'cause I stumbled over the factory specs on the PRS site - very helpful, lucky me, haha.

I remember being curious about these back in the day - David's drawings of his experiments on Dr. Shaw, from Alien: Covenant.
Crazy stuff...

For some reason, there was a 0€ game in the the PS Store a couple of days ago - CarX Street, an open world arcade racer. I'm a sucker for racing games, so I gave it a try.
After about 4h, I'm positively surprised: the game's right down the #NFSU alley, and captures that nostalgic feel really well. It's full of JDM classics, tons of tuning options, and, most importantly, stupidly fun racing (so far).
It's far from a sim (like #gt7 for example), the open world is mostly just a nice backdrop (but all open world racing games I ever played were like that), and the cars aren't licensed - none of that makes it any less fun to race for money, and to build up your basic street car into a turbocharged destroyer of "yolo tires" 😄
Also, no cops/chases - they've happily invited everyone to participate in no-longer-illegal street racing in their city, for some bizarre reason 🤣

NISMO R34 GT-R Z-tune - an absolute monster. Stunning like few other cars, iconic doesn't even come close 🥹
Also, amazing work that keeps going into #gt7 all these years later, without any additional cost.

Closw friend's 50th birthday party tonight. Met some old friends and acquaintances, good times.
One friend told me a great story: Death played in Vienna in the 90s. He was chatting with Gene Hoglan, begging him to play Zombie Ritual. Not on the setlist, he was told. But what can he offer? 4 tequilas, he said. Death played their show, the set ended. No Zombie Ritual. Gene gets up, tells Chuck they must play Zombie Ritual for the guy in the front row. Death plays Zombie Ritual, fuck yeah.
Turns out, 4 tequilas for Hoglan buys you 1 rendition of Zombie Ritual, fucking amazing.

Seems like M$ is determined to ruin VSCode with all that copilot crap. I've moved to Codium on my work machine today. I wouldn't be surprised if 2025 turned out to be the year I finally quit GUI editors for good and moved to NeoVim.

@davidshq I've built many such applications over the years. The ones built with #vue are still quite easy to maintain, even 5+ years later - Vue 3 + #typescipt + #vite is a great stack to work with.
If you must JSX, then use #preact. It's not a bad choice either, but maintaining the hook soup isn't fun in the long run.

Week 1 of being back at the gym: +1,2kg of bodyweight, of which 500g is muscle mass, according to my scale.
3 workouts, on Madcow 5x5, and a deliberate excess of calories. A new mass gainer (~1300 calories/serving), instead of the usual protein shake, definitely helped. Weakness is most noticeable on squats, but I believe that I've also been overtraining them on 531 during the 6 months I did that program.
