This week's #ThursDeath is EP 'Voidspawn Sacrifice' from last year by northern Italy's IGNOBLETH. This is death with dynamics, it has both faster and sloggy parts, and it also has some black metal touches (kinda war metal). And these guys are doing it well. The band members are super young, in their teens (16 and 17 as of last year), and already making amazing shit like this. Hope they keep it up. These three songs (plus a short-ish intro track that isn't too bad) are great.

#ThursDeath this week is another older, broken up band that I've been digging lately. SLUGATHOR was from Espoo, Uusimaa, Finland, and was active from 1999-2010. They had a few LPs, but I think my favorite of theirs is 'Circle of Death', originally released in 2006 (this is the 2020 reissue). Grueling, cavernous OSDM here like the Finnish can really nail - the likes of which clearly influenced current bands like Degraved. Riffs, growls and dynamics for DAYS on this one.

For this week's #ThursDeath, we're going back to the late 90s/early 2000s. Gorestench was from France and weren't around long, but they recorded the fantastic 'Stench of the Dead' demo in 1999. This is a masterclass in OSDM-- brutality, wild riffage, killer drums, solid dynamics, great guttural vocals. The last track here is a bonus track, added from a 2001 compilation, and it's excellent too. I can only imagine how fuckin incredible these guys would've been if they'd continued. It's so great that Doomed to Obscurity Records has been re-releasing all this older metal.

There isn't a lot of 'revolt metal' out there, but there should be. Syracuse, New York's TOILER make exactly that on their new EP 'The Master's Tools', and that's why it's a killer #ThursDeath for this week. After a cool, chuggy/ambient intro track (THIS is how you make an intro track!) the other four songs grind and churn in all the right ways. There's crushing dynamics and grooves everywhere-- don't miss this one. It's mean as fuck.

#ThursDeath this week is the incredible 'Final Wrath - the Early Works of Lobotomy'. This is a collection of early Lobotomy recordings, which are WAY more badass and powerful than their later LPs, in my opinion. This is a 2 disc collection, and some songs are repeated. I cut some of the recordings of the same songs and some live/demo stuff from the end and basically chose my favorite recordings of each duplicated song.

For this week's bonus #ThursDeath, we're going back to the 1990s to feature one of my favorite metal records of 90s death metal.

MONASTYR were from Poland and are now based in the UK - they're still together but haven't released a record since this one, 1994's 'Never Dreaming' (aside from a demo in 1996).

For this week's #ThursDeath, the 'Amorphous Mass' EP from 2019 by Italy's SEPOLCRO. A truly great EP - I was noticing the lyrics on this one, they're killer. This record crawls and lurches and summons great ancient ones in just 20 minutes total. It's a really good time.

Earlier this week I ran across a KILLER death metal album from 1993. For this week's #ThursDeath, the fucking MASTERPIECE of a record 'Circle of Evolution' by SCHISMATIC from Poland. Maybe some of you guys know this one already (@djrobotham)?

This is a GREAT no-frills death metal record -- my favorite kind. No samples, no intro. Just riffage, chugging, growls, perfection. Some wild funk bass later on in the tracks. Don't miss this one if you haven't heard it.
