Swinging Mace is some killer deathy shit. The whole thing is great, but the last song is "They Live", and it's an epic that's over 9 minutes long. 'Necrotic Terror' is a damn cool record and I keep coming back to it lately.

This week's #ThursDeath is Scotland's CAUSTIC PHLEGM-- a one man metal project I've been enjoying IMMENSELY these last couple weeks. It has tape hiss, synths, jankiness that I dig, and ODSM-inspired grossness. There's a Caustic Phlegm demo out this year too with other songs, but this is their (his) full length debut LP, 'Purulent Apocalypse'. And its sound really lives up to its name. Grody growling, slimy riffs, and pounding, crushing drums. HUGE contender for me this year.

This week's #ThursDeath is the excellent new death/doom LP 'Gore Furnace' by Montague, Massachusetts' WORMFACE. I've been listening to a lot of this. Released just last Friday, I'd been psyched for this one. It didn't disappoint. Eight grody tracks of sludgy, deathy riffage. Love the vocals. The drums. Just all of it.

A new find for this week's #ThursDeath, another band I found via a flyer of a band I dig (I forget who) since both bands are playing together soon.

Chicago's VOIMATON play a great, chuggy mix of death doom that is infectious. It's tough to make a full length death metal album and make the whole thing damn great, but Voimaton definitely did with 2022's 'Profane Vestige'.
