A brutal, crushing #ThursDeath this week with debut LP 'Putrescence' by Toronto's COPROLITH. The riffs are relentless, the drums are pounding. The last song is the single, I listened to a ton of it before this came out, and it still strikes me how great it is every time I hear it. What an amazing record. Cavernous as fuck. This is a disgusting slab with churning, chugging, dripping, burbling, roaring, monk-like chanting, and piano melodies- and then back to face-smashing riffs. Muck and grime galore. If the gross, nasty riff in track 4 doesn't get you, nothing will. Has to be heard to be fully appreciated.

This week's #ThursDeath is EP 'Voidspawn Sacrifice' from last year by northern Italy's IGNOBLETH. This is death with dynamics, it has both faster and sloggy parts, and it also has some black metal touches (kinda war metal). And these guys are doing it well. The band members are super young, in their teens (16 and 17 as of last year), and already making amazing shit like this. Hope they keep it up. These three songs (plus a short-ish intro track that isn't too bad) are great.

This week's #ThursDeath is a recent find I've been listening a lot to this week, Belgium's DISCARNATION have re-released their 2023 demo as 'Mournful Incantations of Mortality'. This is a fantastic piece of gloomy, death-doom that's super growly and cavernous, just how I like it-- much like this year's Cave, Ovenhead or Annihilation Cult. Definitely one to try out, for fans of the death-doom - great dynamics and everything else. It hooks you and draws you in.

Kingsport, Tennessee's PISSROT are a new find this year, and perfect for #ThursDeath. Some of these guys are in several other metal projects too. They just put out an LP for their (now defunct) project Roachwhore this year, and some members also have a powerviolence band too (Donkee Dick).
