I won't repost the FT columnist in Bluesky using Nazistack, but she makes a good point. Even when honest students try to get the LLM bot to do one approved thing for them, it unhelpfully does FAR more than they ask, creating headaches for them as they can't stop the behavior.
And knowing as I do that faculty at my institution have complained about tutors to their dept head for doing too much of the students' work instead of tutoring them. So WHY on EARTH do the same faculty shepherd their students to genAI which does just that and there's no recourse to stop it? It sounds nonsensical because it is! #genAI
