"Come do these Western blots" had me cracking up.

I finished #NeverLetMeGo by #KazuoIshiguro this morning, and honestly have been thinking about it all day.
The strangest thing, is that I'm usually able and willing to understand how I feel about a book, but I just don't know with this one. I can't say I really _enjoyed_ it, but then I'm glad I read it. It could have ended differently, but then that wouldn't make it better, or even more satisfying.
As ever, when something puts a splinter in your mind, that's probably a good thing.

@JontyTownson @inkscape was always pretty high on my list for figure generation.
Any data analysis needs? #Octave, #Python ?
#NotepadPlusPlus is also a must for me.
Hope that helps

If you're making slides, figures, or training material: remember that the #NIH has a pretty impressive catalog of scientific #illustrations mostly #CCO or #CCBY licenced.

Had the absolute joy of seeing Brian Bilston & The Catenary Wires in Liverpool last night.
If you get a chance to see them on tour, I highly recommend. Brian is not only a fantastic writer but also a fabulous entertainer on stage. His work dovetails wonderfully with the tone of the Catenary Wires.
You could see how much fun the group were having with "31 Rules For Midlife Rebellion".
Thanks for a great night @brianbilston

I recently switched from #DuckDuckGo to the #Lite version, and it's so refreshing to just have search results.
No distractions, no real layout, just the results.
Plus you can integrate it into #Firefox / #LibreWolf or whatever as a default search on the context menu.
Haven't used the big "G" for years, and can't understand why people still do.

The super cool thing is that once you've segmented them, you can start to cluster them based on simply properties like area, circularity and solidity.
You can automatically classify into resting (red) and activated (green) microglia! How cool is that?

In today's episide of culinary "Mess around and Find Out": making Bread and Butter pudding with leftover (homemade) #Stollen. Really nice combination of fruit, citrus and autumnal spices!

It's #MuscleMonday (?!) and as someone who does #BioimageAnalysis in #DigitalPathology these days, I always like to see #SiriusRed stains.
The yellow/red contrast makes the job so much easier!

I left the other place in one of the early big migrations, but I'm delighted that my employer has also followed suit:

If you're over there and want to see what the company is doing in the #DigitalPathology #DeepLearning #ImageAnalysis space, check it out ... or say hello and ask me :)

Having moved from broad #ImageAnalysis to #DigitalPathology, one of the things I miss is analysis of time series data.
Thankfully there are always interesting problems on image.sc to play around with.

I am honestly floored at the #SegmentAnything implementation for #ImageJ / #Fiji
Even running on a laptop, once loaded, it's incredibly quick.
Moreover, it's a super-simple install which is a major barrier to many #AI #DeepLearning implementations.
Time to play around with some #Microscopy and #DigitalPathology data!

@EMBLEvents also, how cool is the #Helix building!
Double stranded, right-handed, with bridges joining the strands.

@sellathechemist @compoundchem phallotoxins like phalloidin, also fascinating. Used extensively in #CellBiology research to label #Actin #Cytoskeleton, but i don't really know the route of toxicity in animals.

@magsol Is #FreeCycle a thing where you are?
Never ceases to amaze me what people are willing to walk off with for free.
