I will say, though, I’m three days into my week off (including the weekend) and if this is what retirement is like, I’m almost glad I’ll never be able to afford it.

Did I just take a two hour nap in the middle of the day?
Yes. Yes I did.
Do I now feel utterly exhausted and kind of sore?
Yes. Yes I do.
Regrets?
Nope.

Bad news: I tore the cable after it was put together.
Sigh
Second replacement screen on order.

Alright, good news: I managed to get it together enough to get a boot, and verified that the new top screen isn’t borked!
Except that it has a vertical line running down it…
But it’s a faint line, and it may just be my mind playing tricks on me. Now to out it back together completely and play some games!

Guess what just showed up.
Wish me luck.

Side note, I was pretty sure that the right shoulder button was just funky, but now having cleaned it out it still sounds and feels not great.
I…really don’t want to responder this tiny ass thing. But I did buy the switches in case I needed to. Lord have mercy.

Input the whole thing back together, broken screen and all, just to be sure I could do it.
Uhhh. The broken screen, which was only cosmetically broken before, appears to be more broken.
This does not bode well. Hopefully it’s just a bad seat in the socket or something. Had a couple false starts where it didn’t boot at all, but eventually reseating the top screen’s ribbon cable got a boot.
But no picture on the top screen anymore, and it’s dim.
Anyone ever seen that before? Did I break it more, or is it just not seated? If the latter, I can deal, if the former, I’m concerned I’ll do the same to the new one T_T

I’m in danger. This was supposed to be my gap week project, and it’s mostly done the _Saturday before the gap week_.
Oh no.

I couldn’t help myself, I did a sort of test assembly to make sure I could get the hard parts together. I’ve done the shoulder buttons before so I’m pretty confident about those, so it should all come together pretty well tomorrow when the replacement screen comes.
