Not a great photo. First break in burn of my Woodstock Progress Hybrid stove, just installed. Very psyched for this upgrade. #woodstove

Been tied up with another hardwood flooring project, and other stuff, and given the state of the world, I hardly even know what to say about anything besides, “Yikes,” or stronger statements along those lines.
Obsessed with #woodstoves, as a way of thinking about something besides the horror of the world.
Had a dream last night where anyone could be arrested for anything.
Will get back to mastondoning when I finish this floor, unless it finishes me first.

Coffee roasters out there, you might already know, there are some really good Ethiopians hitting the green bean vendors right now. Prices up of course. Greens that would have been $7/pound last year are now $10. But it seems like Ethiopia had a really good crop year as far as I can tell, great quality.

In the distant past I've been through all kinds of stoves, catalyst and non-cat.
For the last maybe 14 years been using a Jotul 3CB, non catalyst I got used. I rebuilt it maybe 6 or 7 years ago. It's still worth what I paid for it, I think.
Efficient. Chimney always clean except for a layer of soot -- no creosote.
It gets a little hard to control with our chimney in real cold, a little small in the coldestThe Woodstock Progress Hybrid is going to be an entirely different beast.

Yesterday in a fit of madness I put a deposit down on a really nice woodstove, by all accounts just a fabulous wood burner, a Woodstock Progress.
I've been burning wood for heat for many many years, and I try to do it as cleanly and efficiently as possible. My favorite stove, in a different incarnation, was a Tulikivi, a 3500 pound soapstone masonry stove, bigger than a refrigerator. In a superinsulated house. One clean burning super hot fire would heat the thing for 24 hours. 1/
