I think I'm becoming a fan of Andrew Hulshulth. I listened to his "IDKFA" many times, but I went through "Rise of the Triad" and "Heretic + Hexen" soundtracks, among others, and they are all lit. It's a pure fire that can be listened with pleasure even without the games.

I finally saw "The Blair Which Project," the famous 1998 found-footage horror. Technologically, it aged very well because the camera tapes they used were lo-fi back then already, and coupled with the plot, it reminded me heavily of Kane Pixels' Backrooms. I get that there's a witch following them and all, but being in my forties, I find getting lost in the woods way more terrifying because it can happen to me. The house at the end reminded me of "House of Leaves."

"Death By Lightning" (2025) is a limited series that tell a story of the 20th president of the US. It's all-star-driven (with my beloved Michael Shannon, Nick Offerman, and Shea Whigham, among others). While it sticks very close to the facts, from what I checked, and has only understandable shortcuts (like only 1 doctor), it feels very much like a comment to our times in the first place. And the metaphors are not subtle. There is even disenfranchised lone shooter.

I played "The Serpent Rouge" and it's cool game, at least to begin with. We'll see later. We play as Warden, who sports a plague doctor outfit and I always had a soft spot for it, so I was eyeing that game for a while. One of criticisms was that there's no sense of direction, but it's not a bad thing for me; I prefer that over hand-holding for a couple of first hours. So, I'm roaming a bit lost but that's part of the appeal here.

"Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition" for €5.99 in the Nintendo store, so I thought why not. I am mostly interested in the new episode which uses an updated features from the engine, which I find amazing in a case of a game from 1994. Notes to follow soon maybe because I already started 2 other games and I don't wanna spread myself thin.

My, oh my, "Command & Conquer's" soundtracks are fire and pure gold at the same time. It's like all the best of the instrumental 1990s electronics.

I had a taste for "A Cure For Wellness" for a while now, though when I finally got to it, I couldn't remember why. I didn't even remember the genre. Which usually gives a movie the edge. It starts like "The Talented Mr. Ripley," with the main character being sent to Europe to bring someone back to NY, and the beginning as well as the middle part are nice, but the end turns out to be a quite typical and predictable horror. C'mon, we can do better. But visually it's really good.

"Night Train to Lisbon" (2013) was sold to me as not an ambitious movie, but it soon turned out to be not true. A bit slow and layered, it turned out to be an interesting exploration of the history of Portugal in the 1970s. I couldn't get over everyone talking English, which seemed to be mainly the convention towards the viewers. Jeremy Irons' depiction of absent-minded professor is 10/10, to the smallest detail. A story of obsession but not destructive.

Then we drove to Guadix where there are dwellings inside caves carved in mountains, though I would rather say small hills; but rock formations regardless. I didn't know what to think about it, so I took it without any preconceptions. Still, it was more shoddy than I "did not" expect. While it seems to look cool on paper, it was nothing glamorous. Also, some of them were abandoned. What I thought, though, was that it would make a cool sci-fi movie setting. You could just shoot as is.

"To Live And Die In L.A." is 1985 movie from William Friedkin. It follows a story of a U.S. Secret Service agent going fiercely after a criminal who killed his partner and friend. William L. Petersen ("Manhunter") plays the agent and it was interesting to see him playing a different type of character than Will Graham. Plus the youngest Willem Defoe ever who looks more like Mick Jagger. Plus Wang Chung's soundtrack. It's like 200% Eighties all over the place.

As was said (and using the opportunity of Bandcamp Friday), I bought "Shadow Man Remastered" soundtrack. There are two versions: one with less tracks and more composed and the other one are tracks as used in a game, sometimes short. I decided to go with the first one.

Not seeing it viable to watch "Cutthroat Island" in any foreseeable future, I turned towards the game. I haven't played an isometric game in so long that I don't even wanna count. Once a popular format, I suppose it was cannibalised by actually 3D games. Funnily enough, the colours and the fights remind me mostly of "Blasphemous," which has a rather different gameplay. I got to level 3 (or 2?) and I like entering streets and houses; TMNT didn't have it, only scrolling right.

I must have seen "Y Tú Mamá También" (2001), like, twenty years ago. I thought I remembered it well enough and it turned that the gist was there but it looked completely differently, and a huge role played the fact that I've seen more world now. The action is set in Mexico and there is a lot of social turmoil shown in the background of coming-of-age story but nothing is explained. I found this interesting. Plus impassioned narrator.

I decided to watch "The Card Counter" from Paul Schrader ("Taxi Driver's" script) after seeing a short bit on Netflix where the main character explains how does the card-counting in question work. I never looked into details of it and it seems to be based on a simple principle. But that's not what the movie is about. If I had to point to the main aspect it's the titular character who wants to live anonymous live. Very much like Driver from "Drive" (the book, not the movie).

"Baby Reindeer" is a 7-episode miniseries about-- well, about a lot of things. It starts as a story of a young bartender being stalked by a middle-aged woman, but then plots begin to pile up: there is living with his ex's mother and a relationship with a trans woman and some past traumas and then the stalker turns out to be good at her game while the police is a bit useless. And it's based on real events at that! I liked how there were many twists introduced but all skilfully.

"His Dark Materials" (season 1) is a fantasy show about a 12-year-old Lyra who's-- well, let's say there's a lot going on here, including animalistic representation of one's soul and armoured polar bears. At first, I thought it's gotta be steam punk, but it's closer to the 1960s, so that would make it diesel punk. But as I said, it's primarily fantasy. In the beginning I had second thoughts.if it's not for children mainly but adults can take something out of it.
