"Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition" for €5.99 in the Nintendo store, so I thought why not. I am mostly interested in the new episode which uses an updated features from the engine, which I find amazing in a case of a game from 1994. Notes to follow soon maybe because I already started 2 other games and I don't wanna spread myself thin.

"Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition" for €5.99 in the Nintendo store, so I thought why not. Loved to play that game back in 1995 and I was so excited after #Wolfenstein3D and especially #DOOM!
Never stopped playing it and used the #DOSBox in a #Linux laptop all those years. LOL

@fucinafibonacci Tappa fondamentale per qualsiasi videogiocatore "maturo". Che poi pure molti cloni successivi lo migliorarono parecchio, anche perché l'impianto narrativo di doom, personalmente, l'ho sempre trovato abbastanza ridicolo. #DukeNukem, #RiseOfTheTriad, #Heretic, #Hexen #Tekwar, etc etc hanno tutti migliorato l'idea dopo. Ma il *vero* salto tecnologico e concettuale (e con il *vero* 3d) arriva con #Quake IMHO 3 anni dopo Doom

Extreme Rise of the Triad has been finished! I think I missed all of the secret levels, but I really don't care enough to go back and try to find them.
While there was a fair number of maps with really neat ideas or gimmicks, a lot of it was ultimately a bunch of obnoxious, cheap deaths.
Glad to have finally played (and beaten!) it, but I don't think I'll be back. That said, hype to now move on to The HUNT Continues! :D

Just to add on this after a few days, the new episode made by new blood & friends absolutely slaps. It's probably hard to do good level design with 90s degrees walls and all the gimmicks, but they absolutely succeed, I am having a blast, and only threw my arms up shouting "oh bullshit" once

The Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition remaster is (so far) absolutely fantastic.
It has like, 3 soundtracks, a million options for sprite variants/sounds, a whole-ass new episode that is really good so far, multiplayer, etc
It also comes with Return of the Triad, the commercial zdoom standalone mod, for.. reasons? (it's good)
Rott is a weird, unique game that was a labor of love, and the remaster is also just that, a labor of love. Fun times.
