@statsguy she really got to him as well, he was flustered. The only real opposition in Westminster coming from the smaller, progressive parties.

  7. It's probably a good outcome that #Welby has resigned, though if you think that changing one Archbishop is going to mean that the Church of England will never again protect child abusers, then you are more of an optimist than I am.

I'm mentally adding this one to my "lessons must be learned, it must never happen again" list

  8. I think we're going to have to add all this Al Fayed stuff to the ever-growing "Lessons must be learned, it will never happen again" list.

And of course it will happen again.

I think that was after the event - so making the most of the situation in which she had to govern

More despicable were the vans sent round poor areas to scare unauthorised migrants into leaving - but compared to what the Tories have done since that now seems mild

But these are human actions of normal people (OK, excepting the #vacuumOfIntegrity and #frogEyedGrifter ) - you are unrealistic about human behaviour

That is not what I said, and you know it. But if you really beleive that, it is the same as saying "they're' all the same!" - a gesture of despair

Were Greens to occupy power - would they lose "moral integrity"?

Being in power requires politicians make choices from multiple imperfect options & balance competing factors. Lobbying for (say) clean rivers like #FeargalSharkey (who I greatly respoct) does not require that and makes apparent virtue simple

"I think it's worrying that it's only today that COBRA is going to meet"

This from a man who first joined the Cabinet under the #vacuumOfIntegrity who failed to attend the first 3 COBRA meetings at the start of the pandemic because he was too busy finishing his mediocre biography of Churchill ....

I thought Harry did that unilaterally by taking his family off to be Yanks?

If I could only think of a valid use for very large ancient buildings with battlements I might suggest reducing the count of Charles' places of residence - but I fear that short of redefining them all as #greyBelt and converting the sites into new villages for the people there does not seem to be a useful alternative function for them...

Well we agree on that - but it was a #toriesOut policy to introduce it, not a labour one.

We will find out at some point what Labour intend to do - I suspect it will be effectively abolished in a raft of coordinated measures to support less advantaged childre.,

...Keeping sentient human beings basically kicking their heeels for years at taxpayer expense is a form of expensive cruelty that served nobody except Tories' own very short-term political interests...

We may have rid ourselves of the lying scumbag #vacuumOfIntegrity in September 2022 but the injection of delusional populist nonsense he orchestrated ever since he was Mayor of London remains to poison our politics....

    Rant over..... for now!
