This is corporate capture of our government.
This 'shed-sit' policy is taken directly from the Collison billionaire-backed 'Progress Ireland' think tank.
Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, and their Lowry Lackies wants to create a second tier of renter - where they have no access to the RTB, can be evicted without notice, and where they are not entitled to even basic privacy from their landlord...

We're 3 weeks away from the by-elections.
We have a chance to put down a marker for how we want things to be.
We think other parties should make the same commitment that People Before Profit does - NEVER to prop up Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael in government.
That's why we ask for a number 1 vote for us and then #VoteLeftTransferLeft
We need a left government that takes on the interests of landlords, big business, and the billionaires, instead of the current one that rules in their interests!

Price caps were a core demand of the fuel protests.
Why does the government refuse to implement them?
Next month it'll be 2 years since we introduced our ‘Emergency Price Controls Bill’, which would impose a cap of €1.75 a litre on petrol/diesel and a €1 a litre cap on home heating oil.
Our bill also includes price caps on gas and electricity - which will continue to go up even higher if this government continues to sit on its hands as ordinary people suffer.

Why is government afraid to admit their 'shed-sit' policy is taken directly from the Collison billionaire-backed 'Progress Ireland' think tank?
This is corporate capture of our government.
Billionaires shouldn't exist.
They have events like the World Economic Forum where they can transmit their policy interests to governments like that of Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael, who dutifully implement them.
-
It's not enough to ask nicely.
We have to learn the lessons of the fuel protests.
We need to demand the #USMilitaryOutOfShannon.
We need to fight to #DefendIrishNeutrality -
The newest housing misery.
Government is now launching these 'shed-sits' in back gardens.
They're further expanding a lower tier of 'renter' - one who will have no right to the RTB, no right to even basic privacies, and can be evicted at the drop of a hat. It's no wonder that this is the brain-child of tech billionaires - it's a method of immiseration and lowering the standard of housing for everyone.
We knew these were never going to be just for 'family'🙄

AI being used to cut workers' jobs, so that Meta can invest billions more in AI.
I had the pleasure of standing with these workers on their picket lines previously.
Support the workers!

The Irish government is making Ireland complicit in US & Israeli war crimes.
As a supposedly neutral country, why is the Irish government still facilitating weapons overflights and the US military in Shannon airport? These must be stopped.
It's no wonder they're preparing to scrap the triple lock shortly...
-
Overwhelming public opinion isn't enough in the face of government's plans to scrap the triple lock and Irish neutrality.
People have to get organised in their communities, in their workplaces, on the street to build a movement to defend Irish neutrality.
The fuel protests proved very effectively that protests work. Militant protests are what is needed.
-
The Irish government is making us complicit.
And then they try to tell us black is white.People can see through it.
We know if they can get rid of the triple lock, they will be sending Irish soldiers abroad to fight and die in wars for US imperialism.
That's why we need resistance on the streets.
Just have a listen to Micheál Martin try and dodge the questions and misdirect.
-
We need feet on the street tomorrow to defend Irish neutrality!
We must not allow FF-FG to scrap the triple lock. It will mean that they will be sending our young people abroad to fight and die in imperialist wars for the US / NATO.
Public opinion overwhelmingly shows that people do not want this, but we have to show them on the streets that we will not stand by.
No to War and Genocide! Protect Our Neutrality!
-
This is blatant victimisation for union activity.
It's also completely ridiculous.Sonya should be reinstated, this should be condemned by government, and government should meet with the workers and instruct the HSE to treat them properly.
The workers at Northside Home Care will continue to fight with their union the IWU, but this intimidation must be ended.
-
Solidarity with Sonya, all the workers at Northside Home Care on strike, and their union the IWU.
This is blatant victimisation for union activity. Bosses hate when workers get organised. This is why workers are forced to fight for their rights!
-
We had an Irish Neutrality League press conference today ahead of the important protest this Saturday, 1pm at the Garden of Remembrance.

Government survives with votes of Lowry's lackeys but majority is reduced.
The power of the people is greater than the people in power.
We need a new phase of militant mass protest involving trade unions and communities to demand action on cost of living and a general election.

There are lessons here, as the government hangs onto power.
Don't trust the fake independents.
And more importantly, people power protests works! This must be the start of a new phase of militant, effective protest involving trade unions, communities mobilising for everyone on the cost of living crisis!

Militant disruptive protest works!
The legitimate protest actions taken by the fuel protesters (that forced the government to make limited concessions) are the reason this ‘no confidence’ vote is taking place.
It’s urgent now to broaden out the fuel protests and bring them to another level with mass participation from working people and trade unions.

We need to fight for a left government, that will take on the interests of those who profit off the crises ordinary people face, instead of ruling in the interests of them like FF-FG.
