700 workers are set to lose their jobs (on top of 300 previous), with no redundancy from a company that made €26 million in profits last year...
This will become more and more common. Big tech employ people to train AI to replace their own jobs, and then tell them there's no job for them anymore.
We have to fight this disgraceful treatment of workers.

I visited Liberty Hall for Bye-Election hustings at SIPTU, Ireland’s largest trade union.
It was great to catch up with Ethel Buckley, Deputy General secretary and I was reminded of all the amazing women including Yvonne Mefor who I’ve worked with improving the representation of women sectors inside the organisation, and supporting migrants workers, also Palestinian activism alongside Mick Lynch and Omar Barghouti.

This is blatant victimisation for union activity.
It's also completely ridiculous.Sonya should be reinstated, this should be condemned by government, and government should meet with the workers and instruct the HSE to treat them properly.
The workers at Northside Home Care will continue to fight with their union the IWU, but this intimidation must be ended.

It was good to meet with Owen Reidy, General Secretary of ICTU this week in Leinster House alongside my colleagues Roderic and Malcolm.
I’m proud to have worked with ICTU for the past number of years, particularly in combatting narratives of the far right. I support their call for a right to collective bargaining.
It’s important to work with unions to help them deliver good jobs and a sustainable economy for the future.

Northside Home Care Services workers were outside the Dáil yesterday (and out in Coolock today) with their union the IWU to fight for their basic entitlements to pay parity.

Northside Home Care Healthcare Assistants were on strike outside the Dáil yesterday with their union the IWU.
These essential workers provide care daily to about 500 people. They're forced to take action because this government and the HSE refuses to give them their basic rights and recognition as section 39 workers.

Some of them have worked for 25 years and are currently on €15.04/hour, and others who are on minimum wage.
They're getting about 30% less than others doing the exact same work as them.
These essential workers provide care daily to about 500 people.
The government must take action and give them the pay parity they need, and treat them as the section 39 workers that they are.

My union fees come straight out of my bank account.
They should be listed as 'unison general fund' But there's not enough characters.So the D is left off and every time I look at it, I think 'ooh the fun of a union'

It turns out the rest of us *can* join a union.
It looks like #UniteTheUnion is the most obvious choice. But I'm new to this.
So… Those of you more knowledgeable than I… Should I join Unite, i.e. the same union my employer recognises? Is there one that’s best for financial services workers? Is there a benefit to picking one over another?

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire is remembered world wide as a catalyst for improved worker health and safety. The scumbag owners locked the exits so women couldn’t escape the fire.
