  1. Completed the UI Builder fundamentals and honestly surprised at the functionality built into it and how simplistic it is to navigate and utilize. I already see areas where it will definitely get tricky and create issues. Overall I’m impressed and can’t wait to play around more with it and see what I can make out of it. #ServiceNow #devslife

  6. Starting to dabble with C# and hoping to get the basics down and go into .Net fully and learn that aspect of things. Get some experience working with it so I don’t fall victim to being strictly a JS dev and not have anything else skill wise. #devslife #devjourney

  11. Absolutely love doing planning for a new sprint and sitting through a refinement process while trying to assign tickets. Waste of time. #heldhostage #productivityGone #notScrum #notAgile

  12. Honestly never want to do portal development again with ServiceNow unless it’s from scratch completely custom. Working with existing vendor provided code is a nightmare. When it works, it’s great obvi.. but when it doesn’t work how it should, holy lord it’s a pain getting a fix. Even trying to do a custom workaround becomes a hassle due to how everything is structured. #devslife #servicenow #portaldev

  14. Super productive retrospective meeting today. First one since our R1 that was actually full of feedback. Everyone from top down realized we have been trying to break the sound barrier with releases and now we need to slow it down and get back standards and make things sustainable again. Set the tone with some new joining members to the team and take our time. #devslife #agile

  15. Going to be doing a collab project with a friend soon to get my regular developer chops back up to par as I have been secluded in ServiceNow land for too long without doing things outside of it. Really think my brain needs something different and more modern to keep things fresh. #devslife #developer #javascript

  16. Dedicating tomorrow morning or figuring out my future moves. Hav to figure out a way to make things happen. Going to need a plan of action and dedicate the time to make it happen. Cannot allow myself to get stuck in the corner that I am in right now for very long. #future #devslife

  17. It’s been a while since I posted something thoughtful. Microsoft Outlook is probably the worst experience for developers working on email templates. Like seriously, hey can’t you support basic web language so it’s easier to design an email template. Stupid and painful. #outlook #msSucks

  18. Got through release 1.1 for work project with minimal issues. These 1.2 features are having some serious issues. Platform limitations are really crippling right now but I’m optimistic that we will work things out. Just have to take the time to dig in and find the spots to customize and make things work how we need it to. #servicenowdev #portaldev #devslife

  19. After going through thousands of lines of code to refactor and pull in code from plug-in devs I pushed the changes in and it didn’t work. Troubleshoot, revert and try again in the morning. I think I figured out the issue (sneaky dependency change) but have to start fresh with it in the morning. Worst case I start over and refactor again. No huge deal. #devslife #servicenow #portaldev

  20. Loved the start of today. Teams messages start going off about a possible bug and before they could even get the ticket in I had already fixed it and didn’t even have to talk to anyone. MAGIC!! Hope everyone is having a great week. #servicenow #portaldev #devslife

  21. Absolutely love a day when I fix a bug in a matter of minutes and get to work on new features. Planning future features and getting to work on those is a boost to my mental health for sure. Fixing bugs just mentally drains me with all the testing against edge cases to ensure the bug fix doesn’t create new bugs. Just taxing mentally for me.

  22. UAT has been overall a success for the UI team. Feeling good that all the work we put in ahead of time is paying off. The longer days through the sprints made this last two weeks a little quicker and gave us more time to update documentation and clean up the code a little bit. Feeling good with the few bugs that are left. Minor things that were pushed and now are coming back as wanted things. #servicenow #serviceportal #portaldev

  23. Servicenow service portals will drive you insane I tell ya. Same code, same browser, same user and template shows one person one thing, another person another thing. Makes no sense to me. 😂 having a great start to the week. #servicenow #serviceportal #portaldev

  24. Have to love when you are tasked with creating a solution that has not been done before, and even the senior platform engineers laugh and say I don’t think it’s possible to do that when you ask for assistance. #impossibletasks #devslife

  29. Want to wish everyone a Happy New Year. May 2023 give you opportunities to shine and show the world how amazing you really are. Bless you all. #Hachydermians

  30. Doing upgrades today. Which equates to my vision blurring and lots of squinting after going through multiple files of code and comparing changes that need to be brought in versus what isn’t needed. #blurredlines
