I found the docs for creating an #REnv profile a bit lacking, so I set up a demonstration showing how you can pre-set a project to use different profiles. Comments welcome.

In December we bid farewell to 7 Core Team members: @alycrall, Brynn Elliott, Eli Chadwick, @karen_word @kbarnes Talisha Sutton-Kennedy and @zkamvar.
They left us with a rich legacy borne out of care for and devotion to their work supporting The Carpentries and its community. On behalf of the remaining members of the Core Team, @drkariljordan, Toby Hodges, Danielle Sieh and @oscarsibabalwe put together this post to celebrate them, with gratitude: https://carpentries.org/blog/2024/01/with-gratitude-to-our-legacy-core-team-members/

As of 16 November 2023, we achieved a 6-months milestone of having all our lessons use #TheCarpentriesWorkbench (our new lesson infrastructure)! 🎉 👏
In this 18th update in The Dovetail series, documenting our transition to The Workbench, @zkamvar shares details about (and #CarpentriesGratitudes for) achieving this milestone: https://carpentries.org/blog/2023/11/sandpaper-0-15-0/

It's going to be interesting because I'm going to try to take #TriMet from Beaverton to the East side of the river and the protest is scheduled for tomorrow.

I heard this on #KMHD yesterday and I just can't get over how creepy it is. I'm not sure if it's as creepy as "Every Breath You Take," but this is basically the FAANG (I guess they're MANGA now?) theme song.

If you don't have a group text of friends feeding each other #spoonerisms and clues for spoonerisms, I be all fad for you.

UPDATE: I talked myself out of it and into a #voyager with choc red switches
I'm thinking about getting an #ergodox #moonlander

I ended up riding 50+ miles between #Hillsboro and Mt #Tabor yesterday and today I'm going to the #BikeSummer kickoff ride.
The first ride of the day yesterday, I met Frau the bike cat at the #RideWestside #CriticalMass

The fact that "basket of cats" is a perfect #spoonerism for "casket of bats" just tickles me to no end.

Had a bike ride today on the Rock Creek Trail to #Bethany and back. Having both Cornell and 185th to cross on Evergreen, it’s not the easiest trail to get to, but my reward was seeing a crow chasing a hawk (which was screeching at the crow) and finding out later that said hawk was harassing a huge eagle that was perched up in a big tree near Bethany Lake and relishing in the drama with some randos I met on the path.

This gives me hope that the bubble will eventually pop. Though it may be too late for a generation or more suffering the secondary effects of the filth that has seeped into our digital environment.

Yall should come out to this ride. I went on it last year and it is super fun and a hell of a workout.

Donated #platelets today for the first time in a while. I used to do this more often, but my doctor was worried about my iron levels, so I had to go down to doing this once a quarter.
It's also kinda wild to watch the counter increase by hundreds of billions.

A common #TestThat frustration I have is trying to track down where messages are coming from in the tests so I can test for them and then suppress them.
Does anyone know a good way of sussing them out other than running test by test?

So, I got a job and I start next week. They want me to fill out a form for a background check and either bring it into HR with my ID for verification (not feasible; I live more than 3000 miles away) OR have a notary public verify. Lucky for me, it turns out that the city of #Hillsboro offers free #notary services at the Brookwood and Schute Park #Libraries for anyone.

@JacobPhD I mean, silly/cutsey names in scientific software have been around for a while, tho (remember the vegan R package?) that being said, that argument is not cool.
Here's a fun one: I am partially responsible for dozens of serious scientific papers invoking the name of a Pokémon glitch called #missingno. Back in 2013, I named a function missingno in my R package. Five years later, I am asked to peer review a Python package named 'missingno', whose name was inspired by my function: https://github.com/openjournals/joss-reviews/issues/443#issuecomment-360814979

Dealing with Family Medical Leave in the US is hard enough without HR sending you forms that expired in 2018.
For anyone who needs it, the current form is: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/WH-381.pdf
