    The Shining (1980)

Evelia is doing her Tuesday night thing with the City of Marina, so I spooled up one of the definitive haunting films of all time, as she won't watch this one.

Oddly she is OK with the sequel, Doctor Sleep, which we will watch together later this month. But not this.

  2. If I had the tools to do it, I probably have.

Also, reprogrammed and ECU on occasion as well...

  3. Trust me, I've been to the Sunday APTA Conference Sunday-All-Day Committee Meetings.

This LinkedIn post is a cry for help...

  4. Oh my...

I/Evelia do all of the following:

As needed pick-ups of fresh produce/breads etc. at farmer's markets or local stores.

2-3 Days a month to obtain discounted dry, canned, or bulk items that I can portion out and long-term store (vacuum pack, deep freezing, etc.)

Longer term occasional steeply-discounted bulk buys (think side of beef) that can also be portioned out, prepared, and long-term stored.

Diet adjusts by what is fresh in season, supplemented by what we have squirreled away.

    Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Safe to say that there will be a lot of Tim Burton movies this month, and the quirky Sleepy Hollow is a good one to kick off with.

Even though it is very monochromatic in nature (something of a Burton trademark) the film has a great look to it, especially in 4k UHD.

The story is also a cut above, being equal parts supernatural and old-fashioned murder mystery.

  8. My office bookshelf.

Give or take, there is about 400 books there.

I've got another 200 or so in storage.

Also about 500 in digital form.

    I've read them all.

Conservatively, I've read 2,000+ books. My first self-read novel was the Cloud Walker by Edmund Cooper. I was about 8 years old.

Many of the books I own have been banned by someone or some group somewhere.

More than school, more than work, all of them influenced who I am today.

  9. MST bought a replacement hard drive this last week for ~$180. The same drive 12 months ago was about $50.

Literally one of (at least) 100 things that have not just gone up in cost, but gone up by several multiples in the last 2 years.

It is not a question of if public services are going to have a crisis, but how soon and how bad:
