Dataset note from Ahrefs: 66.6M ChatGPT responses, 15M fan-out queries, Aug-Sept 2026. Only 14.4% of prompts trigger a real web search — the other 6 in 7 come purely from training-data recall. Of the queries that do search, 75.9% target brand sites, 11.9% retailers, just 1.9% Reddit+Facebook combined. Quietly interesting: PubMed jumped from 64th to 4th most-cited domain. Primary sources are winning the fan-out, not forums.
