Wrote a Base45 encoder/decoder in Python:

It uses numpy for all the array munging and table lookups.

Base45 (rfc9285) is useful when transferring binary data over QR codes,
as it's more space efficient than Base64, end to end.

Process was pretty smooth, e.g. it supports github integration,
but it's optional and the service doesn't try to force it on you via dark patterns.
Even pausing for hours during the signup steps was fine,
i.e. session didn't time out or something.

Thus, appreciated the experience, even more so given the general enshittification happening elsewhere.

Not to brag....but I just beat an 11 year old at foosball.

My 500th toot.

It speaks volumes that I no longer cringe when I see that word.

In a little over a month I have had more - and more meaningful - interactions with a more varied group of people here than I have in two years on Tw*****r and 14 years on Facebook combined.

This isn't an accident, nor was it deliberate. It was simply a natural development in a space where diversity of opinion and perspective are not just welcomed, but almost expected, while still repudiating the worst of humanity.
