  9. the ending of the game is beautiful. Zelda telling Link to give up the Master Sword and "regain your lost time..." is so poignant and also incredibly meaningful to me. and that scene at the very end, when Young Link returns to the Hyrule Castle courtyard to see #Zelda again, oh man. as boy and i were watching, i actually felt tears welling up, i don't know why, that has never happened before w/ beating #OoT

  10. Ganon was somewhat annoying, too. he takes a lot of damage before finally succumbing, requiring lots of magic power and/or deku nuts to stun. when i would run out of magic, i'd bait him into hitting the MAGIC JUICE wall, to get more juice of course, but sometimes he'd hit me, which is a one shot. probably fought him 5 times before i got him, the last time boy was with me and he got to see the ending of #OoT #Zelda

  11. beat Master Quest w/ 3 hearts. most annoying section was Ganon's Castle, specifically the Forest Spirit room, which is heinous platforming section with wind turbines & small platforms w/ beamos on each, & if u miss a jump or get pushed off, u fall into a pit & have to restart w/ all enemies respawned, took me like 10 tries. otherwise, majority of the game was child's play, as long as i kept focused and intentional, also learned how to cheese almost every enemy, so combat was a breeze.#zelda #oot

  12. finished Spirit Temple. one of the things i like about this dungeon (and Shadow, but less so) is the interplay between Young Link and Adult Link, switching back and forth to complete, which is a mechanic i don't think the game utilizes as much as it should. Young Link feels underutilized, which is a shame because he's baller as hell w/ swagger readings off the charts. love playing as Young Link. #Zelda #OoT

  13. also, check out this insane picture i somehow captured.

  14. the peaceful village of Kakariko holds a terrible secret, a darkness quite literally bubbling underneath. in one sense, it is a physical place, a torture chamber, but in another sense, it is a metaphysical representation of the horrors of reality, of which all children ought be shielded, but young Link is not so lucky, because, for some ungodly reason, only his tiny body can fit through the narrow crawl space. this is where Link learns the Truth. #Zelda #OoT

  15. finally out of this hell hole. MQ version is neither better nor worse than the original, it just is: the Water Temple, a stain on the land of Hyrule, no matter how you cut it, but i wouldn't have it any other way, for this is Ocarina of Time, always and forever. #zelda #OoT

  16. got the Biggoron Sword w/ 55s left to spare. what's always annoyed me about this sword is that Link's sheath does not change when it's equipped, neither in design nor length. i wonder if this is updated in the 3DS remaster, it's been a while since i've played that. #zelda #oot

  17. Fire Temple, done. in MQ, there's a Darknut or whatever they're called just chillin in one of the rooms, they're intimidating but easy as hell cuz their stuff is so baitable and choreographed. died like 4 times on Volvagia. a 3heart run is basically just low-health alert and fairy hunting all the time, i've learned, especially so since bosses now just one-shot Link, even simply touching them on accident is a one-shot. #Zelda #OoT

  18. completed the Forest Temple, died for the first time in a room full of Stalfos, then a few more times after that. the moment Link grows up, Hyrule becomes a much harsher place, monsters start doing a lot more damage, go figure. as an adult, you get used to the low-health alarm going off constantly, it becomes your close friend, almost. although, it would be nice if you could toggle it off. #zelda #oot

  19. there's so much going on in this short 10-mins of the game. a lot to unpack, as they say, in terms of "growing up," with Ganondorf as a symbol of man’s (not “boy’s”) greed / lust for power. Link actually pulls his sword on Ganondorf, who's this towering, terrible figure on nightmarish high horse, almost like a specter of adulthood itself. the whole thing feels like a sort of naive, youthful rebellion against growing up, or growing up into THAT. incredible storytelling w/ so little. #zelda #oot

  20. completed Jabu Jabu's Belly but, due to the precarious placement of the heart container (one step in front of Link after the boss cutscene), i accidentally picked it up and had to reset. it's whatever.

the main difference with Jabu's, besides the puzzles, is that it's like an absurdist's nightmare, cows stuck in all the fleshy stomach walls. i guess we know what the Zora have been feeding him, now. #zelda #oot

  21. completed Dodongo's, got the Spiritual Stone, not very difficult so far. two things you quickly realize on a 3heart run, one, you can and should just run away from certain encounters, and two, there's not much to do in #OoT, outside of rushing dungeons, if you're not collecting heart pieces. #zelda

  22. #3heart master quest starts now. plan to chronicle milestones here. version is technically GameCube version flipped into an N64 rom. it is not fan-made or anything like that, this is an official Nintendo game. and for someone who's played #OoT many times, MQ is like a mindfuck, like being transported to another world where everything is the same but slightly different in uncanny ways. for example, Deku Tree is full of gohma babies now, and the puzzles are different.

  27. Just finished reading an advance review copy of 'On the Set of Forrest Gump', written by producer Steve Starkey and forwarded by Tom Hanks. The book explores the movie mostly from a filmmaking angle, going behind-the-scenes on the creative process, the practical and visual effects that made certain scenes possible, and discussing the intentional changes they made from Winston Groom's 1986 novel.

The book is coming out March 17, 2026. Full thoughts here:
