CW: LotR spoilers (books and movies)
My local was showing the extended Lord of the Rings, and that's now wound up.
On a rewatch they hold up. Some stuff's aged badly (cliché now or notably undiverse), there's some Hollywoodisms for expediency and it's distracting how "not conventionally attractive" is a shorthand for moral ambiguity or failing. But generally it holds up well and is worth a rewatch.
I'm no longer bothered about the Scouring of the Shire being cut (though Sauron's death is a bit underwhelming), and I always thought cutting Bombadil was an idea.
But some new nerdy nit-picky rankles. Why's Frodo's westward ship now the last one? Why is the tower at Cirith Ungol Gonodorian on the outside but Orcish inside? Why does the seasonal imagery drop off in the 2nd movie and come back in the 3rd? Why isn't the Palantir stuff more explicit?
Wouldn't be fun if you couldn't poke at things, right?
