The ticklish question is whether opening a #BlueSky account for syndication is a tacit vote in favour of #embraceextendexinguish.

Some of my friends hopped over to Bluesky. I would like to see their posts and interact with them. I would also like Mastodon to continue existing. I do not want more of my friends joining up for Bluesky and getting fooled again. Give an inch of trust to Big Tech, and they'll build a dual carriageway over it.

  2. @[email protected] @[email protected] My guess is that they wrote it as prologue + 24 episodes intentionally. So if it worked out they can lean back and order another 24, if it went bad they don't have an incomplete show (which is bad for merch) on their hands.

I applaud it, so tired of incomplete shows:( But I do think we'll see another 24 episodes. There is a TON of world left to explore. We haven't gotten to spacians vs earth for instance. That's an easy 24.

  3. Luckily premium service resumed so I’ve got a beer and pringles. Wasn’t the complete shambles experience. However there are definitely people standing that paid for premium cabin that didn’t get to enjoy it. I imagine the comps will be pretty generous #brightline #transit #trains

  4. #evildeadrise Can’t think of a recent horror movie where I thought the main cast didn’t deserve what happened to them. But pretty much everything in this film was a breath of fresh air. The new setting for the franchise allowed for a unique atmosphere and the way the building was incorporated into the horror was very fun to see. Only gripping with it is the characters seemed to not react to getting attacked for too long in many scenes. Overall great horror flick. (8/10)

  5. Got around to watching a couple of #movies on my flight. Watched #rudolphtherednosedreindeer #evildeadrise and #krampus. Honestly kind of mad at myself for taking this long to watch all of these so here are my thoughts. #review

  6. If you’re living in the #Seattle area, I highly recommend filling out this survey so we can increase the frequencies on the #Sounder South corridor. It’s in desperate need of frequency upgrades and weekend service #transit #trains #SoundTransit soundersouth.participate.onlin

  7. Really nice to see to see #Granblue Versus Rising have a free edition. 4 playable characters for online vs, full access to the fall guys mode and the first part of story mode. #FGC #Evo2023 #GBVSR

  12. Overall #slamdunk #thefirstslamdunk movie was very good! Especially if you're new to the series. Like I mentioned in my previous tweet, I knew nothing about the series except it was about basketball and people generally gave it high praise. Considering how old the series was, I was expecting it to feel more like a generic sports anime but I was surprised that it felt more like watching #pingpongtheanimation. While it's not as artistically ambitious or quite as interesting, the main thing that set this film apart from other sports series I've seen is how much of it focused on the personal struggles of each players and how they ended up at the current game they're playing. As I've heard it described on #trashtastepodcast in the past, it does feel more like a battle of egos than anything else. But it's a very distinct conflict feeling compared to something like #haikyuu. Haikyuu feels like it's more focused on the highs of competing and grinding together where Slam Dunk has an emphasis on everyone's own personal goals.

Personally the later felt way more compelling especially with the expert pacing and directing that went into weaving everyone's story in and out of the match as it progressed. Also, I don't think I've ever witnessed a climax to an anime sports match that was as tense as the final 5 minutes were for this one. The way the score and visuals highlight the desperation and anxiety of both teams was masterfully done.

Getting on the technical side of things, the animation is a fairly mixed bag but more of it looks great than not. Main issue you'll hear from people is that the CGI can look bad and that definitely is the case. Main thing that highlights it is there are several scenes where it is used pretty spectacularly almost to the level of quality you'll see in an Arcsys game to slightly better than the Berserk movies. However this is only used only when someone is playing basketball and the rest of the animation is traditional. Everything in the traditional style did look extremely good with particular praise that I'll give to the shading and expertly capturing a melancholic tone these scenes were going for.

However the biggest thing that needs to be praised with this movie is the soundtrack. The way this score amplifies every scene you're watching is masterfully done and keeps you engaged the entire time.

While I can't speak on this as an expert of the series, I do think this is a very good film to jump into with no prior knowledge of the series. Without the knowledge, you really don't know what the stakes are going into the game. You just know they're playing against one of the champions of the area. So the outcome of he game or how the movie will progress is something entirely up in the air. When I read about the background of the series later, I was shocked to find that the main character of the series was actually a side one for this movie but the one they chose to focus on here definitely was the right call. 13. Just finished watching #rubygillmanteenagekraken which is the latest film from #dreamworks #animation. Overall I got just about the movie I expected. Going into it, I was expecting a very simple and sweet movie that would feel kind of similar to #mylifeasateenagerobot except as a movie. It's extremely tongue and cheek and knows exactly the kind of film it wants to be. As per usual, most of the animation in this film is extremely well done with them leaning pretty heavily into a lot of fun rubber hose movements from Ruby herself (she has no bones) and the weight of them going kaiju felt appropriate. The design of the main town is also a lot of fun with a nice modern take of what a waterpunk type of town would look and function like. First 2 acts of this movie are also very strong. Main cast is likeable and the interactions between all the characters flows really nice and naturally. A lot of the banter was able to get plenty of laughs out of me. However, the movie does lose a lot of it's momentum once the 3rd act starts. Basically the first 2 parts are the generic teenage coming of age story handled with care and cleverness. Act 3 mostly feels like they hit auto complete on an AI to get to the ending and because the plot isms for things to progress. However, despite it's noticeable drop in quality, it never gets to the point where it's annoying or unwatchable. It just feels generic and then you get your nice little feel good ending that you expect with a film like this. Considering the recent films from Dreamworks I was hoping that this film would be a bit more of a sleeper classic. And for the first 2/3rds, that was the movie I got. However, that last act really does put this down more to a slightly better than average movie that's a decent watch, but nothing you need to go out of your way for. Hopefully this ends up being just a one off case and they continue their gold streak that they had with both Bad Guys and Puss in Boots.

  14. Very satisfied with how #Rashid is looking. Main sad thing of course is the lack of his old theme but they turned up his style to 11. Looks like he’ll be a menace #sf6 #StreetFighter6 #streetfighter #fgc youtube.com/watch?v=yP0zYYpE5_

  15. This is something I'm sad I still haven't experienced. Been to #japan 4 times but never ate at a #yatai. I feel like I need to improve my Japanese some more before I go to one on my own. #food

  17. #introduction on a new server and platform! Name's Wang and I decided to join Calckey to see what this platform does differently and the admin here always seems to be on top of things. I'm a big #anime, #videogame, and #urbanplanning fan that's worked professionally as a caster and donation drive organizer within the Smash scene. Currently I'm looking to get more into #SF6 with #manon and I also recently moved to #Seattle to start a new job and escape from #FL. With the longer word count here, I'll probably be looking to post most of my reviews and opinions on this account on the various anime I watch and if I like the platform enough, I might look to migrate my main account to here. Also if anyone here is interested in practicing #日本語, I'd be more than happy to cause I'm severely lacking in practice and I've noticed my comprehension has been slipping recently. よろしくお願いします!

  18. #mastoQuestion for peeps, is #mastodon able to search for users on #misskey? From what I can tell it doesn't seem to be the case. Following a couple of people on there from finding their posts on hashtags and I can find mastodon users from my Misskey account. If we can't, I definitely hope that gets fixed in the future.

  19. Finally did my first #SF6 online matches. Got my ass rocked with a 3-5 ratio overall but it felt so nice playing with good netcode. So far I'm happy that I was able to pull off the confirms I practiced when I remembered them and was able to execute certain #manon setups. Main thing I really need to do is learn how my normals interact in neutral. Didn't realize how good HK was for beating out approaches til later and I need to work on my oki. Got stuffed out way more than I should have.

  20. #wangseattlebound Day 3 Went to #Dollywood today! Ended up being a pretty mixed visit but I got a lot done. Arrived around 1pm and I managed to do Lightning Rod twice, mystery mine, TN tornado, Thunderhead, Flying Eagle, and Fire in the Hole. I’m stopping by tomorrow to check out the shows and hopefully Big Bear, Dragonfly, and Firechaser. First meal I had was great but the burger at the diner was so disappointing. #rollercoaster #themepark

  21. #wangseattlebound Day 2 saw me going out to #carowinds! This was my first time heading out to the park and overall I really enjoyed it! I would say it about met my expectations with some things exceeding and other areas under delivering. Main exceeding was on the food quality and most rides met my expectations. I’ll go into more detail into them tomorrow though. #themepark #rollercoaster

  22. First stop on my journey was #savannah! While I knew I’d be a big fan of the area, I was blown away by how much I did! I only got to try food at Little Duck Dinner but the duck grilled cheese with tomato soup was extremely rich. Moon River Brewery was also a fun visit but I only tried one beer there. #wangseattlebound #duckhuntdinner

  23. Some updates since my last post! I officially left Florida Wednesday and driving past that state sign was one of the biggest sighs of relief I’ve had. I’ll be updating my journey under #wangseattlebound but to kick it off, this was the last meal I had in FL. It’s a chicken chain from FL that’s pretty alright. Came out a little strange this last visit. #duckhuntdinner
