Pro democracy, pro compassion, pro thinking about cultural norms and changing them intentionally for the benefit of all. Leftie, feminist. Anti all the isms, including fascism, colonialism, racism and whatever stage crapitalism it is that produces billionaires. Tax the wealthy until there are no more billionaires. fascism is preventable, and its existence any scale at all is the result of many policy failures, yada yada yada…i think you get the idea.

Examples abound:
a majority of dudes listen more to dudes than women is widely documented across several domains (work, entertainment, punditry, etc, even around believing men over women about dating women...), but most dudes don't think they do that.
Your own political folks support things you want, so you don't believe it when someone says they act in unfair ways and really should improve… liberal economists must know what they are talking about over some long hair leftie right? right?
-
"Affinity bias" that's the term I was looking for earlier.
Implicit biases are not fully conscious biases -against- certain folks due to cultural conditioning that leads people to consider them to be not "as smart" or "objective" or "knowing what to prioritize".
Affinity biases are giving someone more trust or the benefit of the doubt because of having (not fully consciously) absorbed positive beliefs about the group(s) they appear to belong to.

do the uses (being relentlessly shoved down millions of people's throats) bring more social value than cost?
LMAO, no.
and he's right, in anything approaching a healthy community/world (that most people would WANT to build and live in): that question has to be one of the most crucial questions to 1) ask and 2) answer honestly.

POST: look at the ridiculously divergent opinion pieces at this "news" site
In the replies: someone (apparently seriously) trying to compare Newsom to Mamdani as if they are two peas in a pod…links to a substack. (reader, they are not the same: Mamdani would just not have had have a misogynistic white nationalist on his own podcast…or criminalize homelessness, for two really. easy. examples)
Guess the demographics? Yup, if you guessed the obvious one, you'd be correct.
-
seriously: some big name Dems have a long record of going to bat for hideously conservative Dems when they are primaried by progressives: Pelosi campaigned for ANTI ABORTION dude Cuellar instead of a young progressive, and currently Sen. Booker (who said he declined to endorse Mamdani because "not his state" is endorsing a guy... not in his state…who is running against a progressive) Examples like this happen a fair amount...but don't make big corp news for some weird reasons
-
Lots of down ballot races could change your communities for the better or for the worse.
Check out who candidates will and won't take money from, and how much their contributors are giving to them...
And -don't- (only) rely on endorsements from liberals
with a shiny reputations from corporate news (who may seem great but quietly take tons of money from corporate PACS).
Why? Because they tend to endorse DoNothingCentrists and shut out progressives who would change the party for the better

Not saying women don't fall for these things, too. They do. But for various other reasons (like the traditional provider breadwinner roles and the way hyper competition is often a huge part of the way a person "wins" at these games) men tend to become more gung ho advocates for fads that clearly …um…have some issues

RE: https://mastodon.world/@OpenSexism/116579279905063470
I'd guess predictable dynamics -also- simply because men tend to listen to men much more exclusively…and the hype is almost always championed by people MEN tend to overly trust (and those would be: highly amplified dudes, no matter how obviously un insightful they are- I mean: Trump, anyone?)
…Additionally each successful iteration is disguised enough…AND very few of marks (whether gold miners, gambling advocates, or AI guys) even realize they have biases that make them vulnerable.

what the hell is wrong with these people?
Most countries don't even have bail at all...don't take my word for it: see for example https://www.aclupa.org/smart-justice-ending-cash-bail/
"The United States is one of only two nations in the world that use cash bail; the other is the Philippines. Most other common law countries criminalize the practice of requiring money in exchange for pretrial liberty.

This is a NORMAL reaction to encountering so much…bullshit from people (you might otherwise be attracted to), but prove themselves to be so emotionally immature they get angry upon encountering a competent human...
“Where is the pool of men who are self-sufficient and like to read, are willing to go to therapy and are not afraid of a woman who has a passport? That sounds really wild to say out loud, but I don’t feel like I’m missing a ton by choosing to read a book instead of swiping on Hinge.”

CW: vulgarity inside
Patriarchy tells everyone: if a woman says or does something a bit more insightful than expected, it's either wrong, or it really can't be -that- insightful/important.
The problem isn't women being themselves, it's patriarchy relentlessly conditioning people to look to men for "how to be in the world" and not see smart women as normal.
so far too many men's dicks shrivel up when they encounter competent women. Newsflash: That's on patriarchy, not women
