Live Your Own Life (2023)
(2023 - Viki, 51 1:05 eps)The 2nd weekender (50+ eps) I've watched. 1st was 2014's "What Happens to My Family?" Both feel they were filmed in 2014. Premise is good - you shouldn't live entirely for others, but the writing was lacking.
The leads carry the show. When people are in dire situations, there is a LOT of whining & little action to resolve it. I did Fforward to get through the elders' tantrums & sulking. What these parents expect from their adult children is beyond understanding & although there is some growth it comes far too slowly.
I did keep watching because it was a little makjang & had some great twists - the last 20 episodes are when things finally start to happen & the show gets interesting instead of infuriating. I was pleased with how the story wrapped up, but the message about living for yourself was somewhat muddied.

Started watching "Live Your Own Life" & it's a scream-at-the-screen drama.
I have never been more annoyed with filial duty! This 어머니 (eommeoni) is making me crazy!

A #kdrama of 51 episodes (1h each!) that slowly grows on the viewer. I started it with low expectations, out of curiosity about how a low budget content targeting Korean ajummas might be.
I absolutely enjoyed the food slapping, the despicable and dramatic characters, the stingy elderly and most of all the intricate plot. Slow-paced up to ep 32, afterwards it's one plot twist with each episode.
Vote: 9/10

#day23 Longest drama I completed in 2023
I haven't yet completed #LiveYourOwnLife , since it's currently airing, but with a total of 50 1h-episodes and 25 already aired, it's the longest #kdrama on my watchlist.
It's what typically comes to mind with the word "drama" . Stereotypical and caricatured characters, selfish mothers and absent fathers, a lot of shouting, invasive families, etc. It's not that bad though, I kind of like it.
