    Man to Man
    (2017 - Netflix 16 1:05 eps)

A super-secret National Intelligence Service agent goes undercover as a top star's bodyguard. Unfortunately, the star's protective manager often gets in the way of his mission to discover the truth about a possible national threat within a conglomerate.

A fairly light, cliche thriller with some unforeseen twists, lots of action, & a great bromance. Throw in some comedy & some romance and it's an enjoyable watch. Park Hae Jin played the perfect spy, & did well with the comedy. There wasn't much chemistry between the leads. Their story needed more development (& maybe a different hairstyle for her), but it was decent. The 2nd ML did great with his part & his character development. His relationship with the NIS agent made the show.

    Cheese in the Trap
    (2016 - Viki, 16 1:05 eps)

It was such an unusual journey. Maybe the 7.4 MDL rating is because it's not a comfortable show & the big messages aren't realized until the last eps. Many consider it a classic, probably because of the quality acting, & the unusual twist on a trope.

Not your typical rich chaebol with trauma falling for the poor girl: it is a rollercoaster of emotion. There are sweet friends, imperfect parents, a crazy sibling, a love triangle, & many side characters with difficult personality traits.

Both MLs get angry & act out, but in very different ways. One is much more socially acceptable, the other makes people very uncomfortable. The FL demonstrates that being with a person means accepting the good & the bad in yourself & them.

Now that I know the ending, my perception of the whole thing shifted.

    From Now On, Showtime!
    (2022 - Viki, 16 1:13 eps)

A romcom with great comedy & decent romance! It has magic & past lives (similar to Destined with You - but without the frustration some felt of the delayed backstory & the magic tapering off, but less romance). A magician who was destined to be a shaman uses ghosts for his magic act, making him a superstar. It has a serial killer, demons, police corruption, great side characters, & wonderful acting.

When the magician partners with the spunky police officer, they make a great crime-fighting duo. Park Hae Jin plays the cold, confident guy who slowly discovers more about himself - a part he does very well. Jin Ki Joo is so good at being cute & badass. They have good chemistry & were nominated for a best couple award. Nearly all the characters have good growth & the various storylines complement each other.

  4. Because one thing leads to another…..

I am still watching “Cheese in the Trap” - just 2 episodes left now - still dreading the potential ending. Park Hae Jin is the ML and I am impressed with his acting.

So I started “From Now On, Showtime!” with him. A 2022 show with a 9.5 rating on Viki & 8.4 on My Drama List. I’d never heard of it.

He’s a magician (who was supposed to be a Shaman) who happens to use ghosts for his magic tricks.

Just a couple of episodes in & it’s fun so far. The thing is - I love the interior design! I wish Viki would let me take a screen shot! I want to create the same dining room shelves in my next house.🏠
