凌晨五點，咳嗽醒來，睡意全無，乾脆坐在牀上讀書。我也喜歡在病中讀《傳習錄》。（余英時《猶記風吹水上鱗》記載，錢賓四先生在香港病中讀《王陽明文集》。）
今天讀到三則最有感受：
一、問：「近來妄念也覺少，亦覺不曾著想定要如何用功，不知此是工夫否？」先生曰：「汝且去著實用功，便多這些著想也不妨，久久自會妥帖；若纔下得些功，便說效驗，何足爲恃？」
//案：陽明經常提醒學生不要「說效驗」，此言足爲今人誡。
二、一友自嘆「私意萌時，分明自心知得，只是不能使他即去。」先生曰：「你萌時，這一知處便是你的命根，當下即去消磨，便是立命功夫。」
//案：退一步說，當今之世，人能夠知道自己私意萌發，已經很值得讚歎。
三、陽明答聶雙江：「吾之講學，非以蔪人之信己也，行吾不得已之心耳。若畏人之不信，必擇人而與之，是自喪其心也。」（載《明儒學案・江右學案二》）
