When we first moved to Japan I spent a lot of time out exploring, but I’ve gotten lazy in that regard after being here a few years.
Today’s exploring as an excuse for exercise was Tokyo Daibutsu (Giant Buddha), about half an hour away in Itabashi. Quiet area and a bit tricky to find in winding local streets.

We took the brother in law to Spacca Napoli in #chicago and I commented that there is actually a pizza place in Banqiao #板橋 (WHERE HE LIVES) is that is just as good if not even better. His first bite into a Spacca slice he turns to me, "you think some random place in Banqiao is better than this!?" and I think his opinion of me took a dip

To explain this picture, from top to bottom, you have
- cups to steep the tea
- cup to serve the tea
- two serving - the skinny cups for going for the aroma, the shot cup for drinking
- you do a first steep and a 2nd steep to get different tastes. Same leaves and different year matter too! This was just in a tea shop where you can sample them. The tourist spots suck.

Banqiao #板橋 is seriously a place I could see myself living at. Just outside where we were staying there are two day markets (literally adjacent to each other) with just about any meat, produce, or seafood I could want. These are mostly food stand pics, but trust me.

If any of y’all on #famichiki or other instances know of someone in tokyo that’s looking for work in the #板橋 area. Send them my way.
Job: hall or kitchen staff at a craft beer brewery/taproom.
Pay: starts at 1,100/hr with ~10,000 in transportation compensation.
Japanese skills are required but I’m not looking for everyone to be N1 上手 or anything.
These extended stints of 12h shifts are killing me.
