It's taken a while, but the project I've been working on exploring the contemporary resonance of Liu Xie's medieval classic, the Wenxin diaolong #文心雕龍 is now complete.
I worked with writers Hannah Stevens, Yuhang Zhang, Sipei Lu, Ningli Deng and Zhenhao Shi, as well as translator Poppy Toland, to commission a series of new works in dialogue with Liu's masterpiece.

It was an honour to be involved in co-translating these poems by the brilliant Ningli Deng 邓宁立, as a part of our Dragon-Carving for Writers project.

The little project I've been running, exploring Liu Xie's wonderful text on the art of writing, the Wenxin diaolong, with Wind&Bones, and a whole bunch of fabulous writers, is starting to come to fruition.

Just finished our Wind&Bones workshop on the Wenxin diaolong ("The Literary Mind & Carving of Dragons"), exploring #writing, #philosophy & #creativity in cross-cultural context, with this brilliant set of writers (see link). It was a blast.

I'm working through the Chinese text of some passages from Liu Xie's "The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons" (#文心雕龍) to prepare for our Wind&Bones
workshop next weekend with these brilliant writers in the UK and China (see the link). -
We've assembled a group of six writers for our Dragon-carving for Writers project, and we're ready to start. I'm really looking forward to working with them all.
This is a project to commission contemporary responses to the medieval Chinese classic work on the art of writing, the Wenxin diaolong (文心雕龍). Then we'll publish the resulting creative pieces in English/Chinese.

I'm so excited by our latest project with Wind&Bones, the social enterprise I co-direct. It's about #literature, #creativity, and the classic medieval #Chinese text on the art of writing, the #WenXinDiaolong #文心雕龍.
We'll be working with Dr Sipei Lu from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and a group of Chinese writers to explore the contemporary uses of this fascinating text. The project is funded by a British Council Connections Through Culture grant.

Okay, last-minute application now in for a fun project involving the Wenxin diaolong #文心雕龍, or "The Literary Mind and the Carving of Dragons". It's a long shot, but it's something I've been wanting to do for a while, so let's see how it does.

Thinking today about Liu Xie's Wenxin diaolong, or "Literary mind and dragon-carving", which I stumbled across years ago, and fell in love with.
I still think it is one of the most insightful of all texts on the art of writing.
