Yang Yin-liu (1899~1984), courtesy name Liang-qing, art name Er-zhuang, Qing-ru, was a Chinese musicologist and the founder of Chinese ethnomusicology. He recorded and arranged traditional Chinese music, wrote hundreds of monographs and papers, and researched the songs of Jiang Kui of Song Dynasty, compiled a number of folk music collections, and made great contributions to the preservation and development of Chinese ethnic music.紀念楊陰瀏研究員誕辰125週年
楊蔭瀏（1899年11月10日～1984年2月25日），字亮卿，號二壮，又號清如，中國音樂學家，中國民族音樂學的奠基人，曾採錄整理中國傳統音樂，編著《中國古典音樂史稿》《工尺譜淺說》等專著和論文，研究宋代姜夔的歌曲，編著多種民間音樂曲集，對中國民族音樂的保存和發展做出了很大的貢獻。

Just saw this sad news, in memory of Prof. Du Ya-xiong 🕯️
Mr. Du Ya-xiong was an outstanding musicologist in China. He researched and organised Chinese ethnic music theory and ethnic music, filling in many academic gaps. In addition, he also participated in the translation of foreign language monographs such as Twentieth-Century Harmony, and promoted the Chineseisation of the “Kodály Method”. Just home from a Purple Bamboo performance. Didn't mention it because I wasn't sure if I'd be there. The Center for East Asian Studies of UofA had a presentation today and we played a handful of songs. Lot of fun; probably the most relaxed I've played yet

Finished my backing tracks and guide melody tracks of my latest project. It's a cover of a Jia Peng Fang piece in a very traditional Chinese style. He's an Erhu Master and I'm just a Sanxian beginner so...should be fun
I'm resting a bit on my last original piece. The arrangement is done and it's fairly involved so I'm mulling over some compositional treatments

Thursday's rehearsal with "Purple Bamboo" was my first with the Sanxian. It was quite a challenge in ways I never expected. Playing with an ensemble on a instrument with variable tuning was part of it but I had also learned the songs differently from everybody else. Between those two, I was constantly struggling to find my place
Was still a lot of fun and I learned a lot
