Dokudami (ドクダミ) blooms shortly before the start of tusyu (梅雨), and thrives in shady, wet conditions.
Many gardeners consider it a troublesome weed, but the heart-shaped leaves have countless uses.
Beware though, the plants have a potent -not altogether pleasant- smell. -
In Japanese 'dokudami' (ドクダミ) can be translated as 'stop the poison'.
It also goes by the name 'jūsha' (十薬 '10 medicines'), highlighting its many medicinal uses.
Dokudami tea (ドクダミ茶) is highly praised as a 'cure-all', and is taken for a number of afflictions.
Often used as a detox, the tea is said to help with constipation and skin complaints.The plant itself is said to have antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal benefits!💪😮

A rather peculiar plant that first appears in rainy season is 'dokudami' (ドクダミ), in English known as 'fish mint', 'rainbow plant', 'chameleon plant', 'heart leaf', 'lizard's tail' and 'bishop's weed'.
We harvest it from an overgrown patch in the yard.dokudami
