Trying to transfer money from Japan Post Bank:
1. Login: It's 2025, and yet the _maximum_ password length you can set is 12 characters.
2. Register physical security token. It costs 1650 yen. It's like a TOTP, but in a physical piece of plastic with a battery that will run out someday.
3. Click through a wall of 'important' notices about services being discontinued and phishing attacks.
4. Nine clicks to select the receiving bank. No, you can't copy/paste the kanji for the branch name or search by branch number.
5. Enter the receiving account number and the transfer amount.
6. Ooops! There's a low daily transfer limit! And you're also suddenly and inexplicably logged out! GOTO 1.
7. Confirmation screen, and another one-time password.
8. Oops! It's not a normal one-time-password, it's a 7-digit number generated by pressing 3 on the OTP token then manually entering the recipient's account number.
9. Final confirmation dialog screen!
10. Congratulations, the transfer will go through next business hours! And then you can try again tomorrow for the remaining amount.I cannot wait to close this account.
