I’ve felt so clueless. I’ve managed to install ZorinOS on another device successfully, alongside Windows, a laptop. I suspected it might be the drivers, but having checked that, it seems to be something present when ZorinOS is booted up from the thumb drive to test/install the system. Ahahhhhgh. 🙃 -

@Mirabeaulacht Ich bin privat auch vor einer Woche von meinem #Windows10-System zu #ZorinOS18 gewechselt (bezüglich schon lange bei W11) und finde das bisher großartig, nachdem mir #Mint optisch und mit den zerbröselten Einstellungen überhaupt nicht gefallen hat.
Nun suche ich nur noch nach einer #Zorin Community, um etwas Austausch zu finden. Und über Weihnachten werde ich mich dann mal in die Terminal-Syntax einarbeiten... 😉

In my search for the perfect Linux desktop distribution, I came across Zorin OS 18 about three weeks ago, after the entire Linux YouTube community responded with rave reviews to the latest release.
And while I was only moderately enthusiastic about earlier versions, if not at all, in the case of version 18, I have to join the applauding crowd!
Firstly, everything works out of the box, and secondly, the graphical implementation of the GNOME desktop is a perfect blend of the old Windows 10 start menu for those switching over and the polish of macOS. GNOME on KDE style, only working better with apps like Calendar – where I ALWAYS have problems with synchronization in KDE (Akonadi)!
I now use Zorin OS 18 Pro (yes, I was so enthusiastic that I bought the Pro version for EUR 47, also to support the team) as my main system on my desktop computer.
On the ThinkPad T490s, however, I run Fedora 43 because I also want to use a more current distribution.
A minor disadvantage of Zorin OS is that it is based on Ubuntu LTS, with correspondingly older kernel and program versions. But as long as you don't use brand new or exotic hardware, everything works fine. And not having to install updates (several times) every day, as is currently the case with Fedora, is also a nice thing.
I can only recommend everyone to take a look at Zorin OS. The core version is free and is perfectly adequate for most people.

Seit gestern Nachmittag / Abend ist #Windows11 auf meinem PC Geschichte. Zunächst hatte ich #ZorinOS auf einem schnellen Stick getestet, jetzt läuft es in der bezahlten Pro-Version auf der Systemplatte (512 MB 970 EVO NVMe M.2 SSD).
Die meisten der von mir genutzten Programme gibt es auch für #Linux. Für weitere existieren gute Alternativen. Das Wichtigste für mich ist, dass mein heiß geliebtes Calibre wunderbar läuft. Auch das Portieren der Daten hat 1A funktioniert.Ich bin begeistert.

UGH!!! I have a second issue that I want to get resolved.
I have it running mostly perfectly on my HP EliteDesk 800 G2, except for this little restart issue.
PS - The Dell Inspiron 15 model 3541 is still failing to boot ANY version of Linux from USB, even Linux disk utility boot USBs.
