Yay, peppers!!!
I’m growing 8 varieties of peppers. All germinated in early March. I just picked my first one, a beautiful deep red “Round of Hungary.” There are lots of green peppers of all sizes, and they are just now starting to ripen. We’ve had a very cool summer so everything is really slow to ripen. These will all continue to ripen until March as long as it doesn’t get too cold. Peppers are so good, they are worth the wait! :-)

Nature teaches me so many lessons that I aspire to apply to my life, my spirit, and my relationships with others.

Hooray! The shipment for my native plant garden arrived today. I can't wait to get these in the ground.

Lazy web, does anyone know what this amazing alien looking plant is? It's growing in a few people's front yards locally in San Diego and if it's native I'd like to add it to my yard. Thank you! 💚🧡

@richrollgardener Thanks. 1st greenhouse. 3 seasons and still go in it when empty. Couldn't travel for covid so we built that for an anniversary. Tried to make it versatile with fold down shelves, holes in center of rafters, and rods along sides for hanging. Turned out convenient, after trying twine and t-posts, ended up chaining up cattle panels for the tomatoes.

@TruffleDogs @richrollgardener I try in December, missed out last year on getting some 'naked bear' squash, lucky this year.
Want a chuckle? I wondered how the soft shelled pumpkin seeds were hulled. I had no idea they were separate varieties. pffft.

@richrollgardener I have basement space w/heat mats and fan and still I risk damp rot or drying out. Temperate here so I can still out most by mid-March but some just don't grow and then I have to fight off late snails and birds and keep fingers crossed there is not late frost or rain. Better: I have fold down shelves in the greenhouse and still... late frost or too hot during the day. Nothing is better than nature.

Seeds are here, this year I am not going to start early. Seedlings just don't grow until days are bright and warm. Prefer to stay inside on these frosty or rainy days, watch the birds through the windows and the garden at rest, and break out the worksheet and plan what this year's vegetable rotation will look like.

Waiting for a few items from Burpee, Botanical Interests, Renee's and Territorial have arrived. #Vegetables: beet-gold broccoli carrot chard collard leek lettuces onion-spring pea squashes tomato. I'm not growing as many varieties this year. Looking forward to seeds from the 'naked bear'.
#Flowers: amaranth foxglove larkspur snapdragon sweetpea yarrow zinnia. A few for pollinators, mostly fillers for bouquets and sweet pea for gifting.
