Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

I often miss my old English Country garden with its hedges and pond and so much wildlife, but it's seriously hard to complain about stuff like this in the middle of January. So much edible sunshine growing in our tiny backyard.
Also very pleased to see tiny green buds popping on the three clematis vines I assumed I had murdered last year.

Got out in the garden today and took down all the dead and dying branches and plants. Filled the big green bin in one fell swoop!
Garden is cleaner and more open, soil seems healthy and full of worms and I even got a decent little harvest of sun chokes that I'd forgotten about until I went to pull down the dead stalks!
I'm feeling that happy exhausted feeling that only comes with garden work. 🥰💚🏡🧙♀️

I planted a tiny pipe cleaner of a pine tree back in 2019 for my wife’s birthday. We named it Frances, and we take pictures in front of it every year on her birthday.
This year it’s taller than me, tall enough to decorate with festive holiday lights. This makes me very happy.

It’s #harvest season! Two weeks ago, I harvested our first Lamb #avocado. Today, the first #peach from our Eva’s Pride tree, which I planted just five months ago. #gardening #Zone10a

First #Gefner #atemoya flower bud! I count at least 16 tiny buds on this tree. I have four #annona trees, but they are all pretty young and I am inexperienced with this type of fruit tree. #gardening #GardeningMastodon #FruitForest #zone10a

Lazy web, does anyone know what this amazing alien looking plant is? It's growing in a few people's front yards locally in San Diego and if it's native I'd like to add it to my yard. Thank you! 💚🧡

I’m so excited to see that some of my #cherimoya and #atemoya scions are beginning to form leaves! This is my first attempt, and I’ve heard that these trees are notoriously difficult to root. (Normally, you’d graft these scions onto an existing tree, but I don’t have a mature tree to graft onto.) #gardening #Zone10a #FruitForest

So, it turns out Chilean Glory Vine, (Eccremocarpus scaber) IS perennial in SF, CA, and does its best flowering in late winter/early spring on winter growth. So don't pull it down in the fall when it seems to die. Glad it has survived my poor care for all these years! Looks great up there with the Winter Jasmine!
