Zig threw me off by taking sponsorships from AI companies, which was weird given their stance. Again, not a programmer, but looking to continue learning slowly and just by poking my head in the room sometimes, so I appreciate the recommendation. Any other languages you can soundly point me towards?

My only experience is in Python. I failed a basic course in it (lol), but I understood a lot conseptually, just struggled to memorize it all and work without references so ya know, tests were a fun time.
That said, my prof also voiced their distain for teaching Python, given its many shortcomings and the fact that other languages would be better suited for first-timers. Again, I struggled greatly with the course, but grasped the concepts alone quite well, so many of their points made sense and they kinda convinced me. Lol

All that to say maybe I DON'T want to learn a Python-like language. Can't even compile the damn thing. But I wouldn't know what other language to start with: one that's free of LLM bs and that's, like, not incompitent in such oddly specific ways as Python.
