Their conversation is related to my novel. Rhaski noticed that Zhaikes' behavior around the human is suspicious to say the least, and he indulges in teasing him about it :')

I should've revealed this mystery sooner haha.
It's mainly for hiding the scars. His people aren't used to them nor to the paler eye color on the scared side. #Zhaikes went through some nasty recovery and was annoyed by people staring at his injuries - he is a public figure, so hiding wasn't an option. That's why he decided to cover it up with the mask and be more disconcerting instead.The eye itself has some handy enhancements tho - with and without the mask.

So, if you ever wondered what the three "dots" in his face are for - it's the anchors for the mask-thingy.It should look different, but I can't sketch it properly (yet!).

Life related (in short):
The attack on his father happened when #Zhaikes had barely reached adulthood. The event not only killed a bunch of people (almost including Zhaikes), but was connected to a political matter, which is again connected to his work and his pride, and an absolute painful and tedious rehab. So there is no way he'd let that go - even after such a long time.

always prefer the welfare of the general public to the welfare of the individual. (Let's see how well this goes with Lara in the equation 😅).
On top of that: #Zhaikes was born into this life and the associated expectations. Furthermore, he is a very proud character, which is why he'd never allow himself to fail.
