definitely need to boost cpu
sure hope going up two classes (i5 to i9) is enough but this is batshit insane
(it's also going from 6 to 8 cores and 6 to 16 threads, it's not just faster clock tho' it's also that)

okay what's in the actual physical machine right now is an Intel Core i5-9400 YES IT IS AN ANTIQUE
it was fine until mastodon started pulling in all replies. which is absolutely a feature i support but dang it is it making my federated wordpress blog hard CPU-bound
(it does at least have a decent cooler so is not _also_ overheating. temps are good.)
$200 on eBay gets me like 2 more cores and 10 more threads without having to change out anything else
maybe i should do that?
lot cheaper than new mb and new RAM
(it's not at all short on ram, this thing has acres of DDR4)
still an oof tho'
