Habe am Wochenende einen meiner Laptops von Windows 11 befreit und #linux #debian13 installiert. Eine Warnung zum #grub loader ignoriert und schwupps hatte ich nur schwarzen Bildschirm mit Eingabeaufforderung. Mit ein bisschen Rückenwind von #claude war das aber schnell behoben. Bin begeistert wie einfach das einrichten war und wie aufgeräumt alles ist.Touchscreen, Klappfunktion läuft top. Heute war gleich der nächste Laptop dran. Testing Fedora 43 on an Asus Zenbook 14 (UM3406KA_UM3406KA). Hardware wise, everything seems to be working just fine and the OLED screen is bloody gorgeous. It's been a long time since I've considered anything other than a ThinkPad, but this Zenbook (with more RAM) could be a contender.

Depuis 3 ou 4 ans je travaille au quotidien avec un ordinateur #Asus #Zenbook, qui tournait au départ sur Windows 10 et qui fonctionne maintenant avec la distribution #Linux #Ubuntu
@libreoffice et @ONLYOFFICE font le taf pour la gestion des documents bureautiques.
Et pour le reste, je trouve l'ergonomie tellement plus efficace et simple au quotidien que l'écosystème Windows... mais c'est une question d'habitude et de formation.

🤔 Je tourne depuis une bonne semaine avec #Ubuntu2510 sur mon #Asus #Zenbook.
Tout fonctionne bien, sauf une chose : je note des pics d'utilisation CPU par moments, jusqu'à 80%, pendant quelques secondes (et ça "freeze" le bureau Gnome).
C'est toujours lorsqu'une vidéo est lue, que ce soit depuis Youtube (donc en streaming) ou depuis Totem (vidéo téléchargée). Lorsque je lis les mêmes vidéos avec @FreeTube ou depuis VLC, aucun pic CPU à noter.

Weird:
#Ubuntu 24.04 on a #Zenbook with a 155H and no discrete GPU installs fine, updates fine, runs fine, shuts down fine, reboots fine. The next morning, after being shut down overnight, it boots to the BIOS logo, then stops. Repeatable. I've done 3 installs.
Does not happen on #Fedora 40. Could be the kernel (6.8 vs 6.9) or newer firmware on Fedora?
Still, pleasantly surprised either work on the Zenbook at all. Quiet, cool, good battery life.

My Zenbook Duo (UX8406MA) is working great with #NixOS. There are definitely some things to tweak, improve, and add more convenience to... but it's a completely usable Linux laptop!
I've popped up a public spreadsheet of all the hardware that I've tested out, and some of the NixOS config tweaks (very minor) required to get it up and running. Looking forward to getting some convenience elements configured in the future.
