I bit of a weird one that I haven’t listened to in quite some time, and have no memory of where or when I got it.

This is a hard one to describe.
There’s flashes of a million familiar things in here, but it’s hard to isolate all of them.

Dark, #newwave #goth #alternative music? Maybe?

The first track sounds like it could be a long lost Bauhaus b-side, and from there, goes into weird early ragged Cure? The singer here, Shiek Vaselino (😂), isn’t a singer per-se, but perhaps more of a loud talker/shouter?

There’s a weird charm to this record that I like a great deal, but I can see how this wouldn’t have stuck out too much in 1989.
However, I dare you to listen to “Little Girls Without A Dad” and not crack some kind of smile. A ridiculous song, but again, charming in a weird way.

Just came across an GitHub issue where a bunch of Zealots tried to establish a framing (closed circle, arrogant developers, won’t let anyone else in) and discuss how to get *others* to donate money in order for this well established project to take care of “priorities” set by the zealots.

Fanboys and zealots have always been a problem in Technology, but for some reason Linux attracts the worst zealots and more of them than anything else I’ve seen in >30 years.

This meme has crossed my feed in a number of places lately. I’m sharing it for debate, not for approval or agreement. If you share from my post, please leave my commentary intact. This has been a public service announcement.

#Scientism is very nearly a straw man. I’m willing to concede that there are some people who treat #science like a religion, but their numbers are tiny and they have zero influence on the conduct of research AFAICT. Anti-science #zealots who come up with memes like this, OTOH, are numerous and disturbingly influential.

It’s also amusing how the meme assumes #epistemology is a gold standard against which other intellectual pursuits must be measured. The author assigns to #philosophy the same unquestionable authority he accuses others of assigning to science.

So I’ll stake my claim: scientific #methodology—in the literal sense of the study of methods—has done more to illuminate “how we know what we know” in the last couple of centuries than formal epistemology has done in millennia. If this be scientism, make the most of it.

Does the truth matter? Are people even interested in seeking the truth anymore? I'm not so sure.

I see so many people expressing views which make it clear that they are dug-in on some particular issue and have no intention of changing their mind regardless of what new facts may come.
