Azus Jukebox #11
Witch - Sogolo
Now for those of you who have never heard of Zamrock. Now you have :3 Its a kind of Psych-Rock that became popular in Zambia in the 1970s. Think loud fuzzy Overdriven Guitars mixed with typically african emphasys on the Beat and Rythms.
One of the Bands that was popular then is Witch, which still exists! They exist so much so, that i visited their concert this week!!
Ofc there have been some lineup changes over the years but they vibed so much and thats what matters most anyways!
Oh also they are putting out new stuff still and like new new stuff! This is their recent Album which only came out this year, containing some really nice tunes.
Oh also the singer ate a whole fruit basket during the concert. Just soo much swagger in one person haha!
Faves from this record:
- Queenless King
- Kamusale
- Set Free

In this episode I play a song by Chrissy Zebby Tembo; I am retiring from my day job; getting laid off in the “dot-bomb bust” put me on this path; the new podcasting machine is still getting the toolchain set up; I am moving from Dropbox to Syncthing; my digital and physical lives are about throwing things in boxes and never looking again; I gave in and bought an Ember mug; I am fighting that voice in my head that resists me doing anything; grampa continues to drive me crazy; I joined the American Pencil Collector Society and now I have octogenarian pen pals; let’s go to the pencil convention in 2025!
