There's no doubt that #Doval is not pitching well and that he walks batters all too much for a CLOSER who is expected to come in to STRIKE BATTERS OUT and to get quick 1-2-3 innings.
That's rarely what Doval is able to do & below is an excellent analysis WHY Doval is having the problems he's been having in getting batters out.
Doval fell into the role of "closer" a few years ago because because the Giants didn't have any better options but I think it's time to look for a REAL CLOSER because either the opposition has a better "book" on Doval & now know to just wait him out to get the walk or because, as the analysis below suggests, he really has no control or any idea where a pitch he throws will go & because he refuses to throw the pitches over which he has better control. 🤷♂️
It's too late in the season to make the change now but IMO it's definitely something that should be done before the start of the 2025 season.

#Zaidi recently stated that he has "100% confidence" that the #Giants will make the playoffs this season.
This just doesn't seem plausible. So, let's crunch the numbers.
The Giants (56-57) are currently in 7th place in the "Wild Card Race" (WCR); 4 positions out of the $ to make the playoffs,
The #Dbacks (60-52) are currently in the 3rd & last spot for a playoff bid.
Assuming everything else stays the same (which, of course, it won't), lets say that the Dbacks play the next 50 games at 500 which will give them a season ending record of 85-77.
In order for the Giants to surpass the Dbacks to place 3rd in the WCR, they'd have to win 30 games & go 11 games over 500 over the next 49 games left to them in the season.
Given that the Giants have been under 500 for almost the entire season, what gives Zaidi the confidence that the Giants will make such a remarkable turnaround in their last 49 games??? 🤔
Nothing IMO.🤷♂️
