  1. A long time ago, I had high hopes that my next computer would be based on #Z8000 #CPU instead of #Z80 but ... 😔

Captain #Zilog Crushed! : The Story of the Z8000 thechipletter.substack.com/p/c

P.S. As far as specifications are, Z8000 1/2 is better than #Intel i8086/8088

  8. It certainly is good to share #retrocomputing pictures! More please @eiZen !

From 1983, the 16-bit #Olivetti #M20 with 4MHz #Z8000, a very sturdy all-in-one machine with a monochrome monitor on top. When I saw it, the 10MByte hard drive even spun up, noisily, and worked.

Shortly after, the above Basic benchmark ran at 3x the speed of an Acorn BBC Micro.

  9. 16-bit #retrocomputing with the 4MHz #Z8000 in the 1983 #Olivetti #M20, a sturdy all-in-one with 160k RAM and noisy 10M hard drive. The B key didn't work, nor did the video. Some refurb later, it ran the SPHERE benchmark, in Olivetti Basic (37697 bytes free), at about 3x the speed of a Beeb. (Mono graphics, 256x512.)
