@kaisla I have not tried #YZE, but the one time I played #PbtA I bounced off hard from the rules.

I guess I like it better when the rules are fairly clearly defined, and the PCs have a significant power curve over the course of the campaign.

So, I'm in the process of starting a new #ttrpg gaming group playing in #theexpanse world using #yze #yzengine mainly based on #AlienRPG .

Just a quick question to all the #DM #GM out there;

What are your favourite way of starting a new party? Do you want them to be friends since before or strangers? How do you do it?

I have realized that I like to force them together via external danger that they have to overcome together.

My first campaign after 18 years of #norpg I used just that one, throwing all players in jail with orders of execution the next day. They where ofc innocent and the local sheriff was bribed by the #bbeg to kill them. And phase one of that campaign was to figure out why and stop the BBEG from trying to kill them 😎

In this upcoming Expanse campaign, the players will start out on Eros and need to co-operate to escape before they gets infected.

It will be fun to discover how they will escape 😁

As a DM I tend to let my players do plenty of dice-rolls, which in turn drives the story forward, where failures can be as exciting as successes.... 😎

But YZE punishes dice-rolling and rolling to often can give high amounts of stress to fast.
I can always do non-stress rolls when my players are in a non-stress situation. But on the other hand, BRP doesn't punish rolling. But still have mechanics for pushing failed rolls and the consequences of that 😁

Anyone out there have tried to run YZE with more dice rolling than recommended?

Mini #YZE #ttrpg session with my students earlier today at the library. They played a sniper, a medic and an engineer working for Doom Agents, sent to retrieve something in Crate 037 in a secret factory near Manaus, Brazil.

They snuck into the factory & discovered that the payload was a nuclear warhead. They tripped an alarm and fled by stealing a helicopter. Two guards were killed but the sniper was wounded.

Piloting the chopper, the engineer evaded a SAM attack & headed home.
