From the other part of my existence, Victoria stands to lose its only #jazz club, Hermann’s, which happens to be one of the oldest and longest-running jazz clubs in Canada. The City of Victoria owns the building after years of issues, and the previous operator was allowed to continue, but they are deep in the red and have decided to cease operations in a month. Here's my experience:
Rifflandia: "We get so many volunteer applications that you are privileged to be chosen. You will work for the equivalent of minimum wage. You might get a couple granola bars as a snack while you work but we will probably run out. Security will treat you like a criminal. There will be no after party or thank you event. We know you likely won't be back next year."
