I made this #art ( #pixelart ) #thumbnail in #aseprite, for my friend @andymobuzami.bsky.social to play #yume2kki. Maybe that day I will be the guide and help the stream to explore the maps.

★RTA世界記録★
My speedrun that I submitted last month for the Yume 2kki AllEffectsED% has finally been approved! As of April 2025, I am on top of the Yume 2kki Speedrun.com Leaderboard!
我、川音リオは2025年2月20日頃、Speedrun.com ゆめ2っき全エフェクト回収ED%レギュレーションを36分54秒で完走し、RTA世界一位を記録しました。
I am thankful for everyone in the community and especially AnotherFran for providing the optimal TAS IGT route. After all, I did not come up with the route myself―I only did the running. Special thanks to Rooy @rooysbar and suiseipen @suiseipen756 for valuable inputs and supporting my speedrun journey.

My first ever speedrun.com submission just got approved by Aergia for Yume 2kki, my absolute favorite game of all time! (Yes, I shamelessly like 2kki more than nikki).
Special thanks to Another Fran for uploading the TAS video with the optimal route for Yume 2kki.

cooked a bit earlier
unsatisfied with rei, clothes are wonky and head hints too much at perspective that is missing in the rest of the drawing

speaking of him, I also found out he's made a nikki/2kki fancomic which is like absolutely sick
also go follow him on twitter or yt or wherever https://twitter.com/Saghaley/

I may sound overly critical of 2kki in recent posts but I'll never deny that the game's social aspect (on ynoproject) is truly something amazing
you could bring up one old screenshot I took with other people and more likely than not, I'll remember how we met and whatnot, it's seriously something special that no other game ever managed to give me
getting lost in a world or wandering off in the middle of a route you planned only to meet someone else, decide to join them (or viceversa) and a while later you meet yet another person, and sometimes it all snowballs into hordes of even 10 people all going together to the same place and spending like an hour having fun together along the way (this is especially true with daily expeditions)
I remember saying goodbye and logging off was seriously pretty hard sometimes, I wanted to spend more time talking with these people I wouldn't have met in any other way
but even after the goodbyes, there's always the (surprisingly high, sometimes) chance to meet those people again, alone or with other familiar faces, another day while you're going your own way
and obviously sometimes coming across people and chatting while going towards a common destination turns into actual friendships which elevates this special something to a whole new level
if I had to put it down into just a few words, it's insane how "real" it can feel
and I haven't even grazed the surface of some worlds that are uniquely inclined to this social setting, like Travel Hotel where you could seriously picture a crowd of like 20 people sitting down in the cafeteria and chatting and messing around for a whole hour
taking the isolation away from a yume nikki fangame sounds like demolishing one of the game's core pillars, but as it turns out it can actually turn the game into something truly unique

I think this is one of the best examples of needlessly poor navigation in 2kki
ladies and gentlemen, depths.
first time I had to sketch on a map to figure out what order to take the billion teleporters in
now yeah it's needlessly annoying but it does absolutely feel rewarding to get to the end on your own (especially considering this is one of the deepest worlds in the game, getting there takes quite a while even ignoring the teleporter maze)

DD 050
I struggle too much with leaving a drawing half-assed when I actually have the energy to improve it (not implying I don't consider this half-assed to begin with, I just uhh worked on it a bit more than I feel like I should have, considering I got like 3 more drawings to make to catch up)

2024 daily doodle 001/366
Picture CW: blood splatters
soo I'm actually taking on the self-imposed daily doodles challenge
this one kinda got out of hand but turned out better than it had any right to (also new brush)yeah I know, the blood makes it look like vent art... then again I guess the ynfg fandom is no stranger to blood anyway

Cool places in #yumenikki/#yume2kki 3: Port City
It's been a while since the last post of this kind, and I've definitely stacked up a ton of potential places to write about... yet I'm pretty surprised this 3rd post ended up being about a world so close to the Nexus.
Well, what else to say, other than welcome to Port City!
This world is astonishingly pretty for not being nearly as deep as other great ones like Rainy Apartments or Mountaintop Ruins, being directly connected to Red Streetlight World - which automatically awards Port City some bonus points from me, I find RSW to be a fairly learn-able hub as long as you keep in mind the shapes of the streetlights leading to the places you're most interested in.
It's hard to not be caught somewhat offguard by the atmosphere here: there's no real music to speak of here, what you'll be hearing is the relaxing sound of waves clashing against the city's lower walls. And your own footsteps, I guess.
Port City's clean artwork, usually opting for smooth surfaces dotted with slight noise rather than really "busy" tile sprites (except for the brick floor, which I believe clashes ever so slightly), reminds me a lot of qxy's worlds. Especially the small building marked outside by a barber pole (2nd attachment!): the crisp light coming in from the window reminds me a LOT of Home Within Nowhere, and I love it.
This place is no maze either - navigation feels chill and it's impossible to get lost, since this world uses probably about a handful of different maps with simple layouts.
Each room and alley has surprising variety, ranging from dark and overgrown backalleys to a bridge livened up by the bright colors of the vegetation around it and, most noticeably, the smooth subtle animations of the massive tree in the background and of the river beneath you.
I also wanted to dedicate a few words to the author Towanota's clever use of color correction: it only gradually kicks in when it is raining, and it integrates perfectly with the Teru Teru Bozu effect's ability by letting you darken your surroundings way more than you'd see with the normal, short intervals of rain.
I don't think there's much else to talk about - I don't wanna make the mistake I made in Windswept Scarlet Sands' post and turn this into more of an objective world description rather than MY experience and opinions.
Thanks for tuning in! Hopefully I won't make you wait for the next post as much as I did this time. -
Cool places in #yumenikki/#yume2kki 2: Windswept Scarlet Sands
A whole three days (or more, I've lost count) after beginning to play Yume 2kki, I've finally reached one of the very areas that got me to play the game in the first place: Windswept Scarlet Sands.
Not "Windswept Scarlet Valley".
I'm not making that mistake anymore.
Anyway - like last time, I'll start off with the music.
Unlike last time, there's not much to say about it: it's unremarkable droning (it does fit the noise overlay, I guess).
After interacting a few times with the radio inside of one building it turns into a more pleasing tune, but it's still nothing really outstanding.
This location shares a lot of things with Erratic Pillar Lands' appearance (potential future entry in this series?), from using a single color for everything on the surface, to the simple geometry of the monoliths you can find there, to the awesome long shadows they cast.
That said, WSS does introduce some new stuff - such as a somewhat more detailed texture for the structures' walls, but also a few spinning wind turbines to break up the otherwise-monotonous landscape.
The monoliths themselves are a little more detailed: some have doorways, some have windows and some of them have windows that glow! Doesn't look like that goes beyond a more distinct appearance, though.
Taking my eyes off the smaller details, this area sports strong, yet slightly pale pinkish lighting over everything in the surface - not really calming or anything, but definitely far from the ominous crimson of Erratic Pillar Lands.
As far as navigation is concerned, it's... meh.
While it does achieve a great feeling of being in a truly vast place, Windswept Scarlet Sands is unfortunately the kinda place you're better off using a map in.
Don't get me wrong, it's not bad to the point where you can't memorize where key places are... but it's still frustrating to have to break the immersion to stare at a map to see how to reach your destination (you can expect me to rant about this in future entries in this post series as well).
More cleanly put, there's not much in the way of landmarks. I think that's the overarching issue here.
(1/2, this came out WAY longer than I anticipated)
