YouTube finalmente está testeando una función oficial para permitir que los usuarios bloqueen o minimicen los Shorts de su feed principal, aunque la opción viene acompañada de ciertas limitaciones importantes (Fuente TheVerge).

Durante años, una de las peticiones más recurrentes de los usuarios de YouTube ha sido la posibilidad de desactivar los Shorts, el formato de video vertical que muchos consideran intrusivo o adictivo. En respuesta, Google ha comenzado a desplegar una nueva función experimental que permite «ocultar» la sección de Shorts del feed de inicio. Sin embargo, no se trata de una eliminación permanente: el «truco» o la «trampa» reside en que la sección solo se oculta por un periodo de 30 días. Tras ese tiempo, los Shorts vuelven a aparecer automáticamente, obligando al usuario a realizar el proceso de nuevo si desea mantener su feed limpio.

Para activar esta opción, los usuarios participantes en la prueba deben dirigirse a la fila de Shorts en su aplicación móvil y tocar el icono de los tres puntos o la «X» en la esquina superior derecha de la sección. Allí aparecerá un mensaje confirmando que la estantería de videos verticales no se mostrará durante el próximo mes. Este movimiento sugiere que YouTube no está dispuesto a renunciar por completo al formato que compite con TikTok, pero sí busca ofrecer una tregua a los usuarios que prefieren el contenido de larga duración y se sienten abrumados por el algoritmo de scroll infinito.

Esta medida de «limpieza temporal» es una respuesta directa al auge de extensiones de terceros y versiones modificadas de la app que bloqueaban los Shorts de forma definitiva. Al ofrecer una solución oficial, aunque limitada, Google intenta retomar el control de la experiencia de usuario. Por ahora, la función se encuentra en fase beta para un grupo selecto de usuarios premium y de regiones específicas, pero se espera que se convierta en una característica estándar de la aplicación en los próximos meses como parte de su estrategia de personalización del contenido.
