Politics from politicians' point of view is just game theory or something.

They all adopt similar policies because they know those policies are 'popular' -- that is, they will yield the highest vote share.

Then the #media amplify these policies to sell those ideas to even more people.

That's why other parties have adopted #Reform policies, with Reform coming out on top for being the genuine article.

Their brand of bullshit has become normalised by the media and their two tribute acts #Labour and the #Tories.

The #GreenParty hasn't done as well as I expected them to. I'm betting the Green vote share has increased, but with FPTP this hasn't delivered many more council seats.

We seriously need a left opposition. It looks like the Greens might not be the answer, but let's face it, #YourParty won't be making a dent in the next general election. Maybe if they had got their shit together sooner they might have, but not now. Not without some major political campaigning.

“Your Party receives very little support, with” less than 1% of the vote.” Voting Intentions.

The Morning Star, independent of the Communist Party of Britain and owned by the co-op, publishes this:

“Your Party: what kind of socialist party does the British working class actually need in 2026?” Claudia Webb.

“The Your Party CEC’s position is notably generous in tone and correct in substance. It is explicit that this is not a condemnation of other socialist parties.

It is explicit that it is an invitation — to individual members to join, to whole organisations to merge into Your Party. It acknowledges the vital campaigning work of socialist organisations across the left.

It draws a line not around ideology but around a specific organisational practice: the holding of binding membership obligations to an external national political party simultaneously with membership of Your Party.”

“The reasoning is democratic, not ideological: “Transparent, democratic decision-making is only possible when every member is able to trust that whatever differences of opinion arise, all members put Your Party’s interests first.”

This is not a demand for political homogeneity. Your Party is explicitly pluralist. Members may hold, advocate and organise around an unlimited range of political positions within the party.

The only requirement is that their democratic participation in this party is genuinely their own — not determined, even partially, by an external accountability structure.”

The socialist organisations outside Your Party continue to do important work. Many of them are already working in practical alliance with Your Party on the May elections. The CEC explicitly welcomes that ongoing collaboration and welcomes any organisation willing to merge into Your Party and bring its experience, its networks, and its commitment into this shared democratic project.

The membership eligibility decision is not a closing door. It is an opening one — opening onto a politics of genuine mass democracy, genuine class power and a party that the working class can trust, because it truly belongs to them.

PS I should stress that I am not laughing at the members of #YourParty. Some of the most sincere, decent and reasonable activists I know in Britain joined YP in good faith, without factionalism. But while the mess in which they now find themselves is tragic for so many hopes, it is also very funny.

The tragicomedy of the UK's #YourParty continues to simultaneously generate tears of despair and howls of laughter. Factional ineptitude again.

The overwhelmingly-English UK leadership has refused to allow the Scottish leadership to contact Scottish members. Yes, really. Classic London party colonial treatment of the jocks.

#StatsForLefties is right: #YourParty is a daft name, and it has made the pollsters job v difficult.

But it hasn't impacted the results much, because even with the boost of the misleading name, YourParty's support is only about 1%.

I'm afraid #Corbyn for all his good points has had his day. He carries too much baggage and is still regarded here as a "communist" left-winger, carrying the taint of #Russia. Because of infighting, #YourParty hasn't got off the ground.
Events have now overtaken him and he is now being superceded by #ZackPolanski and the #GreenParty who look to have captured the left ground

The #YourParty clown show still finds new paths to ridiculousness.

The latest is that no Scottish members of Your Party will be part of the body which will decide the party’s approach towards the upcoming Holyrood elections. Even the notoriously centralised #LabourParty didn't go that far with its colonial control of its Scottish #BranchOffice.

#AshSarkar's analysis of #ZarahSultana's #YourParty is incisive and concise, tho kinder than my take:

1/ #Sultana tried to hijack YP at the ourset, by unilaterally announcing herself as co-leader. The resulting mistrust was inevitable, and fatal.

2/ Sultana is primarily a revolutionary socialist allied with entryist factions. #Corbyn is a Bennite, seeking a parliamentary path to socialism. I have sympathies with both traditions, but they don't mix. They should not be joined together.

So just in time to make remarks on todays by-election, Your Party has voted (via a collective leadership process) to have Jeremy Corbyn as Parliamentary Leader.

Now, all he needs to do is figure out how to bring his party together & then work together with other parries of the Left (i.e. the Greens, who this evening may well have proved a point) into some sort of popular front ahead of the next election.

Does the seem likely?
