#MuppetationalMay Day 9: A "Sam and Friends" character (for its 70th anniversary!)
This guy is called Yorick, he's one of Henson's earliest TV characters, and I love him so much.

Mistodon: "Alas, poor #Yorick! I knew him, Horatio. A fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy." You may recall this boney character from Act 5 Scene 1 of William Shakespeare's #Hamlet. His remains were illustrated in #teletext by @atonalosprey and included in last year's spooky MIST1023 artpack collection.

I'm a big fan of small telescopes and what can be done with them. What you've done with your Messier 16 photo is FANTASTIC.I'm just not well set up for star photography, but I've done some #lunar and #planetary photography with small instruments.
The following photo of #jupiter was taken with an unmotorized #60mm refractor. The #yorick stacking software combined about 60 frames for the image. This was taken in 2010 when the SEB did one of its disappearing acts.

I'm quite used to this industry vs #opensource debate. For at least 20 years I've used #forth, #yorick, and #perlpdl for programming, and #Linux as my #operatingsystem.In so doing, I've found open source to generally be of high quality and flexible for simple to complex #computer solutions.
Until recently, partly from being retired, I've had no interest in #socialmedia. Had I been aware of #Mastodon, likely I'd have started there in the first place.

@rayh
I never directly worked on spacecraft, but did work on missiles and airplanes, guidance specifically. That was before I retired some years ago.
I used several #opensource packages. #Yorick, #perlpdl, #scilab, #octave, #R, #gnuplot, to name a few. Management permitting, if I was working specifically on spacecraft, I'd likely use the same tools. -
