Bugonia: Not good.
Unnecessary level of misogynistic violence, an ending with an unnecessary level of silliness, and a main male character that is pure toxic masculinity and sadistically cruel.
Along with the ridiculous ending of #PoorThings (which should have stuck with the much better book ending), Yorgos may be too self-indulgent.
I love #Dogtooth, but these two fail in overall story, for me.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer 2017 is Yorgos Lanthimos's attempt to show Lars Von Trier how to properly corrupt the audience
I was afraid of 2017 absurdist horror film by Yorgos Lanthimos The Killing of a Sacred Deer, because I know it involves a murder of a child. Ever since Lars Von Trier utterly traumatized me with his depiction of this very thing in The House That Jack Built I avoid movies like this. But seeing Bugonia the other day, where I attempted to psycho-sexually analyse Lanthimos, I realized that I avoided a movie that potentially has a lot of what I need for such an analysis. So I braved myself and saw the damn film. Now I think the film was about corrupting the audience enough that they would feel good about a child being murdered. I'm not joking. That is how the movie is structured.

Comincio con le cose facili: Emma Stone, ormai lo so, è spettacolare e con Lanthimos di più. È sempre convincente anche nei ruoli più difficili.
La seconda cosa da sapere è che il film è un remake di uno coreano (v. soggetto) che non conoscevo.
La terza cosa è che ho visto il film in lingua originale. La mia conoscenza dell’inglese è modesta, ma grazie ai sottotitoli sono riuscito a seguire abbastanza facilmente.
Teddy e suo cugino Don vivono insieme in un posto imprecisato in Georgia, in periferia e nella tipica villetta da telefilm americano. Teddy è anche un apicultore ed è convinto che la sindrome dello spopolamento degli alveari sia provocata da degli alieni provenienti da Andromeda. Pensa che gli andromediani vogliano soggiogare l’umanità. Convince quindi suo cugino Don a compiere una missione impossibile: rapire uno di questi alieni e costringerlo a farli incontrare direttamente con l’imperatore degli andromediani per convincerlo a lasciare in pace gli umani. L’alieno individuato è la CEO – Michelle Fuller – della Auxolith, l’azienda per cui lavora Teddy. E qui mi fermo, che dire oltre vi rovinerebbe la visione.
Film completamente pazzo, come ormai ci ha abituato Lanthimos, ma che butta lì, fra il serio e il faceto, una domanda interessante: autodistruttivi come siamo, ci meritiamo di stare su questo pianeta?
Per il termine bugonia che dà il titolo al film, vi rimando direttamente a wikipedia.
Avvertenza per chi non ama il genere: ci sono scene abbastanza splatter, con pezzi di carne che girano qua e là nello schermo.

Essaye The Lobster.
The Favorite est plus proche de Poor Things dans l'esthétique. Poor Things est assurément un de mes films préférés, tout m'a plu dans ce film, mais surtout la photographie, à tomber par terre. Pas compliqué, j'ai acheté le livre de photos que #YorgosLanthimos a réalisé sur le tournage, franchement exceptionnelles !
