2026 #MarchForPeace in #Okinawa Island will be this Saturday (May 16th). There are two groups, one starting at the #Yomitan Village Office (12.2 km) and the other at Kakazu Heights Park (11.7 km), both ending at the Agre Stadium in #Chatan. Starts by 8:30, ends by 15:15, with a peace meeting at the stadium afterwards.

today we'll hear Hirofumi Sugawara ( #urasoe board of education) about the latest excavations at urasoe #gusuku, Mio Ōta ( #yomitan board of education) about the site of Ōwan agari-nu-ugan, Shintarō Yokote ( #nago boe) about the earthen gusukus of #yanbaru (northern part of #okinawa island) and Ryōma Miyagi ( #tomigusuku boe) about the excavations at tomigusuku gusuku. maybe not in this order. -

After arriving in Okinawa we made our way north a little to Yomitan. The first day we were there we mostly just relaxed at the beach but the second day we explored the bluff around the Cape Zanpa Lighthouse, admired the view over the ocean, watched some guys fishing, and took some photos. Then we went to the beach
