Listening to this #indierock tribute album to Yoko Ono that is quite lovely, pretty dreamy. Personally I am MUCH more of a fan of Yoko's work than I am the Beatles or Lennon despite Yoko still being a punching bag for lazy "fans" and "comedians" decades later.

I never expect somebody to understand art.

I’d say the new one is an addendum to the others, with a very short Laurie Anderson interview spread over four pages by designing it out with nice big pictures

The rest is background much-covered in the other books

Except this 2024 one includes a section on a show or so not in the 2000–2016 ones

But my take is: collectors only?

"Give Peace a Chance" is an #antiwarSong written by #JohnLennon (originally credited to #LennonMcCartney), and recorded with the participation of a small group of friends in a performance with #YokoOno in a hotel room in #MontrealQuebec, Canada. Released as a single in July 1969 by the #PlasticOnoBand on #AppleRecords, it is the first solo single issued by Lennon, released while he was still a member of #theBeatles.

Does anyone have (or has looked through) this #YokoOno book published by Phaidon? I've had it on my wishlist for a while and I now have a gift card, wondering if it's worth picking up. I don't know much about her art but want to.

Yoko Ono: It’s Alright (Polydor PD1-6364, 1982)

I love and respect Yoko but this is a terrible album. Weirdly upbeat and synthy pop, it’s still abrasive but in a brand new way…which seems like you’d have to appreciate it but I don’t know. Maybe the artificial sounds are supposed to reflect something about her stage of grief or whatever? It’s more goofy than arty.
