I spent the weekend at a yoga retreat, enjoying some c yoga classes, nature, kirtan, and healthy vegetarian food.
I got home and there was about 1.5kg of water retention in the books. Wondering how much salt that healthy vegetarian food contained 🤔

I took a yoga class online today, that incorporated some funky things such us:
- Hip dips in tree pose
- Knee circles in warrior II pose
- Windmill-like slides in triangle pose
- (Progressive) Side bends in side angle poseLooking forward to incorporating these into my future classes 🥰

It's been the kind of week that ends in me falling asleep in savasana and waking up to a rather loud OOOOOOOMMMMM

I took a page of the book "Yoga For mental health and wellness" (the training I am doing at the moment) and did a restorative practice today. Been having stressfull after stressfull week for the last 2,5 months and haven't been taken enough care of myself.
The 20 minute savasana (in a 65 min class) was clearly needed. I fell in and out that borderline sleep state several times.

In other news, I finally found a retreat that is not (extremely) expensive or far from home, that has single private ensuite bedrooms, and on a weekend I can swing.
So I booked one weekend, because the last two months have been hell and there is still one month to go.
Yoga retreat is in November, so I have something to look forward to.

Another day of practicing what I preach. Taking a yoga class, going into child's pose for a full repeat of the mini flow because my left hamstring is NOT up to it. Imagining doing the movements, following along with breath, but giving my body a break.
Now to find a spot to get that echography done & try to find out what the fck is wrong with the hamstring so I can start PT and slowly get back to painless normal (for me) ROM.

After today odyssey of 2h drive to get to Brussels, the nice barbwire fences, then needing to take a detour on the walk back from my meeting (following part of the protest parcours and crossing the area where tear gas and flares had been shot), and some extra frustrations with projects and contractors, my body said no to gym so I did yoga.

Managed to get through the whole thing, hard to breathe when upside down though. But I tried to slow down and focus on slowing down the transitions too.

I just did a 70 minute yoga nidra with "droning music" (it sounded like tibetan monks praying to me). I can say that kind of music puts me to sleep, I do not remember much of the nidra (doesn't help I could barely understand the words being spoken by the guide/teacher).

That was one of the **most** frustrating yoga classes I have done in a long-long time.
Class title: Get clear, with a focus on relieving stress, and part of a series called "Nourish & reset".
The teacher kept babbling nonsense of her (mis)understandings regarding the nervous system and some other stuff, while failing to count breaths because of her chattering (anywhere from only doing half to double and of course not the same for both sides).
On top of that, her physical cues were so underwhelming that in more of one occasion I had to look at the video and check WTF did she want me to do (up is not the same as half up). And sequencing fails with poses that do not flow together at all.
Oh and add the poetical language of "Rainbow your ribs over the right leg", "shine your heart" and other BS.
I can ignore some of these things, but when it all shows up together in a 55 min class, it pretty much ruins the experience. Now I know not to take another class with them.

My bank is being overzealous with fraud protection, which means I am having trouble loading my business card to pay the next course I want to follow... Annoying, but thank you bank (also, thank you bank worker that answered my chat question on a Sunday afternoon, you don't get paid enough).
For those curious: I'll be taking a yoga nidra teacher training in the next months, to improve the restful qualities of savasana.

Took a half day worth of overtime today, because I was feeling drained.
OF course a manager demanded I went in to the office for a meeting (that yes, could have perfectly been a teams, since half the people were on teams anyway). Which meant wasting 1h driving there and back.
So my half day off started a bit later and even more tired, so I did some #YogaNidra deep guided relaxation, which often helps.
Then I watched some more of the yoga for athletes course I am taking (super interesting session on #YogaForCrossfit #CrossFit), and afterwards I went for a walk.
And I'm sure people at work judged me because I took time off in the middle of a delivery period, but it's either that or ending sick / exhausted, so I've been setting boundaries and doing what I need to do to keep myself healthy.

As a yoga teacher I am always a student, so I've been slowly going through my training "Yoga for Athletes" from https://yogamedicine.com/
Being that their trainings are research based, they offer a list of interesting articles that the cite during the lessons. So I went and downloaded those that are free to download, and then contacted a few researches to ask if I could ge a copy of their paper.
I love that researchers will send you a free copy, and I know they're busy. But it's amusing that they don't even send a "Thank you for your interest, here's a copy", they just reply by attaching the pdf.
Do they know they can create templates? Have standard replies?
